Eye of The Storm Series #7: Shifting and Heaving and Creaking
Once again, violent unrest explodes in yet another country, this time in Iran, and you'll find much up-to-date information below on the growing carnage there. Please keep this situation in your meditations - especially during this Sunday's Meditation Focus #200: Activating the Universal Godnet in All as One>> so that basic human rights are respected and peace may prevail in Iran.
But before you delve into this and all the rest I've compiled for you, may I suggest you give a look at this just produced video montage set on very appropriate - and inspiring! - music and lyrics by Jon Anderson... Just to help keep things in perspective...
Love and Light will soon prevail and we are the ones who came here to facilitate this changing of era into a true Golden Age on Earth... which incidentally is scheduled to happen in just about 3 years and a half from NOW... Oh! and just 30 minutes past the exact solstice time I was "inspired" (because of sudden intense bursts of tingling energies I experienced) to check the Global Consciousness Project dot - monitoring in near real-time the state of humanity's Onesciousness - and I noticed the most bizarre phenomenon that I ever saw it doing. For a short while, the graph readings were oscillating every minute or so between both blue and red extremes. I took a couple screen captures of this graph so you may see for yourself (HERE) what was happening - it even turned totally white - off the scales - for a moment at 2:54 am my time.
P.S. Make sure to check the many comments received in my SPECIAL FEEDBACK AND EVALUATION FEATURE section below and to answer the poll questions I've prepared for you. You have 4 weeks to do so.

"The Solstice of June 2009 will create a doorway through which we may enter into a full state of conscious living. The activation of this doorway shall awaken a new awareness of self and will support us in revealing our true nature thus healing the illusion of separation that we have created.As we approach this doorway we are asked to move beyond the limitations of our past and to actively engage with the abilities and attributes that we have achieved in the course of our journey thus far.As the doorway is revealed, Divine love and radiant light will pour into our hearts creating a gateway within each one of us, reconnecting us to our Spiritual foundations and merging our inner being with the familiar infinite power of love and wisdom. Our sacred power, the power of our hearts, will be activated, aligned and utilized as the primary source of encouragement for the journey forward. All that is required of us is dedication and commitment to the tasks that lie ahead. As we open to the coming changes, our true nature shall be refined and we are asked to embrace the essence of love within ourselves and to avoid the temptation to seek it elsewhere. This shall be a true test of how we will utilize the gift of our sacred power.The heart of humanity must open to aid us in accessing this doorway into the higher realms of self awareness. We are entering the point of perfect balance and the extremes of polarity and as such this signifies a time of deep transformation. If we choose to cross the threshold we will welcome in our wholeness, radiate our beauty and emanate the truth of who we are."
"Beloved Prime Creator of All the Multiverses, I offer this Prayer of Intent. Joined in Intent here with my brothers and sisters from many worlds and many dimensions, we ask to be blessed with Your Strength, Your Love and Your Light. We ask to be endowed with the Courage of You Who creates Universes. We ask to be infused with the humility of knowing that we are all ONE within You. Please bring your Blessings upon all of us who have joined here in this Conclave. Please give us the dedication, the strength and the courage to go forth now, and to accomplish our Mission of bringing Unity to the Beings of planet Shan (Earth), so that they may choose to accept their Unity with their Brothers and Sisters from the Stars. So Let It Be! Shalom! Adonai!"
"It is time to understand the truth, understand the steps humanity has to take to elevate themselves.... It is the end of a major cycle.... really a new beginning.... take the body along with the soul to the higher dimensions.... The question "If all memory was stripped from the soul, would they remember their light and love, their connection to All-There-Is?" has been answered.... the very reason the Phoenix crop circle is planted into your sub-conscious. The metamorphosis of death. The brilliance of new life, new beginning. Everyone knows now of this time of their rebirth. The Phoenix has to die before it can be reborn. It is in the death throes now, soon to be reborn.... It is time to bring it to the consciousness of humanity. It is the promise of the new life, of the rebirth.... One of the most important crop circles that has ever been given. The announcement of the dying of the old giving birth to the new.... The unexpected emergence of peace in the Middle East will be the very real marker of the beginning of the new cycle..." And much more. This is a profound message to humanity, just as this crop circle is profound in both its power and its simplicity. It is time for humanity to wake up to what awaits us at the end of 2012 and this is the wake-up call. There is work to be done to prepare and it is time to begin that work."
"We are all part of the same Whole. We are Interdependent (and so must learn to ask the Whole/our God/our Higher self for guidance in each moment). What we Do (give) to others we do to (receive) ourselves. We create OUR version of the world. No one else is responsible. We must learn to be Defenceless (to hear the truth). We must learn to be Harmless (to be the truth). We must learn not to be Victims (not to give our power away). Everything happens for the positive Lesson we have chosen to learn about ourselves. As we Judge/condemn others we judge/condemn ourselves. We have to learn to be totally Honest with ourselves. We must learn to Forgive all for everything (we think) they do to us, for they are in truth our mirrors. We must live totally in the present moment, NOW."
- Peter Wallace (firstname.lastname@example.org) - Taken from the 12 point summary of a course he offers.
"There is such beauty and potential that surrounds us every moment. We can take notice of our rhythmic breathing and how this simple process nourishes every cell, gaze up at the sun and realize how it too is supporting our existence, or we can go within into our imagination and appreciate the power we wield to generate new tomorrows. Wherever we choose to put our attention, it is ultimately our perspective and personal interpretation that determines the nature of our experience. Each of us is a marvelous being of immense creativity within a vibrant planet that sustains and provides for our every need. We have innate wisdom, unbridled courage, amazing strength, audacious faith, incredible bravery and astounding talents ever waiting to express in each moment. Yet, our greatest challenge is that we have forgotten the simplest of treasures an open heart. According to our unique circumstances and personal self awareness, we either ignore or ignite our compassionate understanding that all life is precious. We may be born into environments, accept beliefs, and experience conditions that easily limit our perspectives or even suppress our deepest truth; however nothing ultimately stands in our way to love unconditionally. We can allow unconditional love to be our choice and personal perspective. Since it is already present in every moment, we merely place our attention on our heart and let the love flow. We can release the suggestions, layers and conditions that we have permitted to limit our reality. Whether we assume a grievance towards another for example, or generate criticism for self, we can let go through forgiveness and acceptance. It can be that easy and we do not need to wait for anyone else to do it for us. Perhaps we have been expecting the world to change and somehow make our lives easier, never realizing that it simply reflects our individual and collective thoughts and feelings. If our world presently appears hardened and closed off, filled with strife, greed, fear, hatred, guilt, shame or doubt, let us be the first to share the love from our heart. Let us interpret our personal perspective from the bigger picture of unconditional love. One person does make a difference and together we transform our planetary expression into the reflection of our divine birthright to live in peace, happiness, harmony and an abundance of love for all."
"Brilliant & innovative. There you go! Keep as cool as you can, face piles of trials with smiles; it riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave. And keep on thinking free, for only love will ascend us. Everything else is but an illusion. Love and light to your site!"

SPECIAL FEEDBACK AND EVALUATION FEATURE
As a follow up to my Special ERN notice (archived HERE), I've compiled all the comments about it I received from ERN subscribers.
If you wish to simply and quickly express your opinion about the form through which these compilations are delivered to you, please click HERE and answer the poll I've prepared for you - you can make more than one choice as you'll see and you need to indicate your preference before July 19. This will help me evaluate if I should prepare a new shorter format in addition to my regular compilation work which already takes me between 15 and 25 hours a week depending on the volume of emails I receive and how much time I can dedicate to prepare, network and archive the 5000 pages of material I send out on average every year. To decide to create a shorter format for every new compilation while also continuing with the current format for those who prefer it, I will need to see that at least 200 subscribers (out of 3200) have indicated their preference for this through this poll. I've also included something about the Meditation Focuses.
I suggest you consider sending by email only "teasers" (short summaries) or articles, with links to the full articles on your website. This would greatly reduce the size of the emails, and would allow readers to much more easily find and read only what they are interested in.
Furthermore, the compilations should be, in my opinion, posted one page per article, rather than a jumble of articles on a single page. I'm afraid most people just don't have the time to read the entire thing, and your system makes finding past information very difficult.
Finally, your site badly needs some sort of search system to locate past information. For the moment, I recommend Google search, which is easy to implement. (NOTE: A Google search field has been available on the ERN site for years)
I know that creating teasers and linking to pages, etc. is considerable work. I suggest you consider Drupal content manager, which does almost all this automatically. It even sends out "subscription" notices by email, which are notices of new or modified content in any category of content that interests a site visitor. (Of course, a site user can also choose to be notified of ANY new/modified content in ANY category.)
Thanks very much for your very valuable efforts!
AND THEN I ALSO GOT THIS ONE

I enjoy your information -- and I know how very much time and effort you need to create these newsletters -- and I very much appreciate it. However, I get very overwhelmed by the sheer volume of them, and can only read a little bit at a time.
Then I "give up" and hit the delete button.
I personally would prefer to have just ONE subject at a time, in other words, smaller emails more often.
Many of my friends feel the same way.
I could spend 10 or 15 minutes a day reading one or two, but not 3-4 hours to read what you send.
Also my brain goes on over-load with the long ones.
Saving them for later is also not much of an option for me as I receive over 500 email per day and have a hard time just tending to the most important ones. Currently there are over 7000 email in my inbox.
This is just my suggestion.
Peace and Blessings
SO I MADE THE SUGGESTION OF A POLL TO YOU TO SEE THE LEVEL OF INTEREST FOR A SHORTER VERSION AND GOT SEVERAL FEEDBACKS INCLUDED BELOW (in the order they came in)

WOW!!! your 200th Meditation Focus! Congratulations on yr tenacity and service, Jean! A happy milestone for us all ... :-)
"... creating a new separate distribution list - through google group or yahoo group - to which I would send only my personal intro comment and the table of content (with embedded links for each item and perhaps a short selection of the hottest stuff from the Worthy of your attention and Also recommended sections, as well as the URL for the archived copy of the whole enchilada ..."
i think this is such a great idea, jean, that i don't want to wait 'til you've got yr questionnaire set up! :-)
having embedded Links with a one-line summary of a post's Essence would be a Most EXcellent solution ... and then additionally having the Link to the entire archived 'enchilada' ... yes, this would be VERY helpful, indeed!
and to make your end of the organizing process easier, you could ask each one who sends you an article or personal mini-blog to summarize his/her piece in one or two sentences up top, and then you would only have to Copy THAT summary paragraph, Link it, and compile it with everything else it'll go out with ...
i don't know Drupal, but having the ability to feed back to a post is a useful feature ... not a top priority, but certainly four out of five stars for utility ...
you're busy, i won't keep you ... Happy Weekend,

I will enjoy whatever version you continue to send. Your work is highly informative and valuable...and I thank you for it. I am close to being ready to find a producer for the dolphin film I am writing that will also be informative.
Later she added: "Whevever I receive your emails...I send out a blessing to you. Your work is of that kind of importance...and though I am mostly silent, I am always grateful for your caring about this world. I look forward to a continued connection with you through your compilations."

Your e-mails are indeed very sizeable and I cannot read them all. But then, I feel it is up to everyone of your readers to select what they are interested in reading and not up to you to refrain yourself and make the selection for everyone. I personally, would not like to receive the articles one by one which would not allow myself to browse through your e-mails when I want to.
Many greetings and thanks for your devoted work

Thank you as always for keeping us abreast of what is popping in this world without all the nasty filters that we are subjected to in mainstream.
Just a suggestion. For the most part all I need to know is that you have posted a new compilation.
I don't need it in its entirety. Because of its size I usually just delete and go to the website. I can then view everything in a smooth format without going in and out of e-mails. So an e-mail announcing a new post with a link would be great! Possibly present less problems for you in the long run. Not sure this would work for everyone but possibly a good many.
Take care on this wondrous journey - may you have a bountiful harvest this year and a multitude of

... as if you really need another email to read Now -
Just want to let you know that the weekly (or so) ERN compilation you send is still the most valued, read and passed on emails I get, completely distinct from the regular flow of my other mail, which, by the way, has dropped off by about 75% since the beginning of this year - for years your compilations have kept me absolutely current on an incredibly broad range of topics, from the totally physical to deeply spiritual, that I would never be able to find out about or keep up with any other way - first of all, I love that you are willing to act as info-central, cutting the wheat from the chaff, in terms of both broad focus and depth of important topics - I also love and particularly tune into the "extra" links section that follows the "contents" list of each edition and so often points the way to beautiful aspects like crop-circles, etheric messages and spiritual videos - each compilation often keeps me busy! enjoying, reading, responding to, and passing along specific info to specific people/groups, for the entire time until the next one appears.
So that's all this email is - to once again say how THIS subscriber absolutely respects and honors your sweat and your commitment to what you do, and truly values on many levels the results you achieve - and to speak for the enormity of the activity-net your info casts every week - well, that and to affirm the Love and Light that I, as only a single subscriber, send to you many times a day (definitely every time I go down my address list to send something out and see your name there).
I'm very grateful for you in my life, brother - you play a much bigger role than you may think, and who knows where it goes from here - thank you so much -

Hi Jean, Im on your subscriber list for the ERN. I dont know who is doing your website (if it is you) or who you are hosting through but there are a couple of suggestions I can give you. One I have my clients on hostgator.com one of the top ten hosters with a lot of bandwidth and many free software programs installed. Hosting is $9.95 a month with a lot of things you have the ability to use. Including several different forums (there are already installed) you have to activate and use them. If you didnt feel like changing hosters, then yes Yahoo Groups would work then. They do get touchy if your email groups tend to be over 2000 people so that is something to consider. Also you mentioned below Lloyd mentioned drupal and using it. They have that pre-installed on their pages. So thought Id send you a link to consider it . They you dont have to purchase a separate program and can use forums and such.
Heres the link. See if this will give you some more things to think about.
Other than changing email forms you could just send a link out to let people know where the current newsletter is located and then they double click the link in the email and it is on your website. I also send out newsletters for my customers. What Ive seen that youve done is put each on a separate page. To save space and not have so many pages, make them pdfs. Word 2007 will make pdfs out of documents if you do a save as PDF. Then link to the pdf. Also there are places online that you can make pdfs for free (www.pdfonline.com) Then you can list the archives more quickly and access them. People can also print them out should they like to take and read them.
Just a couple of thoughts for you. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your work!

I have the privilege to receive your Earth Rainbow Network packages thanks to a Franco-Armenian good friend of mine who lived in Montreal and says she knows you. Her name is Aurea (Nadia) AHARONIAN, and she is French-born. As myself, she is at present living in this country. She has the best opinion of you that can possibly be had about someone, and very strongly encouraged me to link myself to your deliveries. I did that, already for a few short months and may I tell you I am absolutely enchanted. I am also building up the same opinion about you she has.
Much, if not most, of the material you send in your extraordinary compilations is horrible, of course (things and events the mainstream media conceal and replace with intelligence-shattering stuff), but the strong spiritual inspiration that pervades everything operates some sort of transfiguration that leaves essential Hope intact, and the image of Universal unfolding you suggest, as it proceeds through our troubled times, reaches my brain, heart and soul as the most accurate and true that I've read in eons.
Reading you is not only a pleasure all along, but altogether an uplifting experience, and a way my convictions and certainties about 'ontology' (the way things are in reality), in a very wide range of respects, are strengthened and confirmed; I say this having in mind that ours' is a relative, not absolute, world, and that beliefs should go along that line. Your deliveries are a sort of beacon in the dark, and a source of light and 'espérance' (the highest hope), a beautiful word we have in French that you most probably know: Auréa said you are Canadian, and in fact your full name sounds French. Am-I wrong..? Is French also your language? Mine is, too, and also Spanish, since I was born and reared in Uruguay until age 20 (a tiny South American country stuck between Brazil and Argentina). I live in France with my wife Hélène since 1964, but often return to that nice homely little piece of land.
I tell you this straight from my heart, Jean : thank you so much for all this you convey to us, your readers, in such disinterest and selflessness. I am so grateful. Tearing open the veil of Maya and giving way to real Knowledge is the only thing that can really make us free; you are helping us, in your very kind and humane way, to disentangle ourselves from the bonds of appearance. I write you this with a deep feeling of recognition, which so many, many others amongst your readers certainly shelter in their hearts. I wish these few lines may encourage you to go on, and to feel that yours' is not just work but a task and a mission.
Receive my very best and warmest regards,

For decades I have worked as an Executive Assistant and have seen the unintended consequences of technology over the last 35 years. I see people of all ages around me unable to engage with more than a few sentences. You are generous to try to figure out a way to help them.
Count me in the group who are happy with what you are sending. Even if I cannot read your compilations immediately, they are a priority for me and I do read all of them within two weeks. I get feelings of anticipation and satisfaction when I seem them roll into my mailbox. It's the antidote to the crap in the news!
Over the years, my conservative husband has admitted that things eventually seem to turn out just how I said they would based upon the alternative information I receive from ERN. It has been difficult for him to do this as he is in the newspaper business (as I used to be). He keeps a cautiously open mind when I tell him about the messages from Matthew, for example. This is HUGE for him. You are making a big difference -- thank you!
No need to reply, Jean. Just wanted to pass this along to you.

I don't often come to tell you how grateful I am for all this incredible amount of work you do for the world and the light and love... Even if I don't go often on the web, I know that I have to spend hours just to read all your information which I find essential for our consciousness of lightworkers... especially since everything is becoming more and more powerful and fast these days... You are and have always been a great help in my moments of doubt and sadness, which, by the way, are very strong these last 6 months, so THANK YOU!
In fact, it's very much surprising to me that there isn't a group around you working with you! Isn't there a community of lightworkers living around and helping you with all this information? Are you all alone?
On behalf of all of us at SouledOut.org, here's sending our greatest gratitude for your Special Addendum email including our Goodwill Festival materials. And while we're writing, appreciations also for all you do to bring the invocation you made in this email a reality for everyone:
May Light, Love and Joy prevail in every heart for the Highest Good of All as One...
We have noticed whenever you have perpetrated our global meditations there is a Global Meditation Focus Group "bump" for increased energy towards the theme and the quality of the group meditation itself. This year's Wesak and Goodwill cycles are both examples of the higher alignment and attunement.
We're not sure if you know about our new Blog WeCycle Wisdom http://www.souledout.org/wecyclewisdom/ which is just now being established. We are being impressed to become more interactive with our web service, and are looking forward to seeing where it all goes.
We wish you all the very best for your Goodwill cycle outpourings, Jean.

Iran braces for more violence (June 21, 2009) http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/06/21/2604042.htm
Tehran is bracing for another day of tension after Iran's capital descended into the worst violence since the country's disputed presidential election.After warnings against protesting from Iran's Supreme Leader, security forces have been using increased force to crack down on the latest protests.There is no sign of a political resolution to the opposition's complaints of vote-rigging in favour of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and demonstrations have been continuing.Helicopters criss-crossed the city and ambulance sirens wailed into the night after streets emptied of protesters who had defied Friday's stern warning from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei against further demonstrations.Riot police had deployed in force, firing teargas, using batons and water cannon to disperse groups of several hundred Iranians who had gathered across the city.Foreign news organisations are banned by the authorities from going to unauthorised demonstrations but media outlets have been receiving reports from protesters themselves.This man, who calls himself Siavoush, has been speaking to the BBC's Persian service."We witnessed security forces and I couldn't tell if they were in uniform or plain clothing opening fire directly on the crowd," he said."All we could do was run away and I saw one person wounded on the ground."We kept hearing different things from those around us about the number of people killed or injured." "The Iranian government must understand that the world is watching. We mourn each and every innocent life that is lost. We call on the Iranian government to stop all violent and unjust actions against its own people. The universal rights to assembly and free speech must be respected, and the United States stands with all who seek to exercise those rights. As I said in Cairo, suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away. The Iranian people will ultimately judge the actions of their own government. If the Iranian government seeks the respect of the international community, it must respect the dignity of its own people and govern through consent, not coercion. Martin Luther King once said - "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." I believe that. The international community believes that. And right now, we are bearing witness to the Iranian peoples belief in that truth, and we will continue to bear witness."

The coming collapse of the American middle class http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/642.html
What's bankrupting Americans? I didn't make up the title of this talk. University of California Television did. It's pretty blunt, isn't it? But the number don't lie. The interesting thing is what's bankrupting Americans. It's not food, it's not clothing, it's not electronic gadgets and it's not extravagant living. Since 1970, for two income family with two kids: * Mortgage payments: up 76% * Healthy families that are getting employers sponsored health insurance: up 74% * Owning multiple cars: up 52% * Child care: up 100% +++ * Taxes: up 25% - These are fixed expenses, the ones you can't avoid. Big, fixed and relentless. Who profits? Wall Street and the banks, the medical-industrial complex, the oil industry, and the government. And these numbers are just the tip of the iceberg. Watch the whole video to get the whole story.
The American Empire Is Bankrupt By Chris Hedges (June 14, 2009) http://www.truthdig.com/report/print/20090614_the_american_empire_is_bankrupt/
This week marks the end of the dollars reign as the worlds reserve currency. It marks the start of a terrible period of economic and political decline in the United States. And it signals the last gasp of the American imperium. Thats over. It is not coming back. And what is to come will be very, very painful. Barack Obama, and the criminal class on Wall Street, aided by a corporate media that continues to peddle fatuous gossip and trash talk as news while we endure the greatest economic crisis in our history, may have fooled us, but the rest of the world knows we are bankrupt. And these nations are damned if they are going to continue to prop up an inflated dollar and sustain the massive federal budget deficits, swollen to over $2 trillion, which fund Americas imperial expansion in Eurasia and our system of casino capitalism. They have us by the throat. They are about to squeeze. There are meetings being held Monday and Tuesday in Yekaterinburg, Russia, (formerly Sverdlovsk) among Chinese President Hu Jintao, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and other top officials of the six-nation Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The United States, which asked to attend, was denied admittance. Watch what happens there carefully. The gathering is, in the words of economist Michael Hudson, the most important meeting of the 21st century so far.It is the first formal step by our major trading partners to replace the dollar as the worlds reserve currency. If they succeed, the dollar will dramatically plummet in value, the cost of imports, including oil, will skyrocket, interest rates will climb and jobs will hemorrhage at a rate that will make the last few months look like boom times. State and federal services will be reduced or shut down for lack of funds. The United States will begin to resemble the Weimar Republic or Zimbabwe. Obama, endowed by many with the qualities of a savior, will suddenly look pitiful, inept and weak. And the rage that has kindled a handful of shootings and hate crimes in the past few weeks will engulf vast segments of a disenfranchised and bewildered working and middle class. The people of this class will demand vengeance, radical change, order and moral renewal, which an array of proto-fascists, from the Christian right to the goons who disseminate hate talk on Fox News, will assure the country they will impose.I called Hudson, who has an article in Mondays Financial Times called The Yekaterinburg Turning Point: De-Dollarization and the Ending of Americas Financial-Military Hegemony. Yekaterinburg, Hudson writes, may become known not only as the death place of the czars but of the American empire as well. His article is worth reading, along with John Lanchesters disturbing exposé of the worlds banking system, titled Its Finished, which appeared in the May 28 issue of the London Review of Books. This means the end of the dollar, Hudson told me. It means China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran are forming an official financial and military area to get America out of Eurasia. The balance-of-payments deficit is mainly military in nature. Half of Americas discretionary spending is military. The deficit ends up in the hands of foreign banks, central banks. They dont have any choice but to recycle the money to buy U.S. government debt. The Asian countries have been financing their own military encirclement. They have been forced to accept dollars that have no chance of being repaid. They are paying for Americas military aggression against them. They want to get rid of this. CLIP

The HOLOCAUST for Dummies (11 JUNE 2009) http://www.daily.pk/world/europe/10398-the-holocaust-for-dummies.html
In 1939, there were nearly 15,700,000 Jews in the world. (1) After the Second World War that number had risen to over 18,000,000 Jews. (2) What this means is that of the 15,000,000 original Jews on the planet, 6,000,000 were gassed, leaving only some 9,000,000-plus. Then, the world Jewish population rebounded and doubled to over 18,000,000 in less than nine yearsan astronomical feat, which astounded biologists and baby doctors everywhere! (...) But there's more. The International Red Cross, formally and officially reported that less than 300,000 internees of all nationalities in the German camps died of all causes, including old age.(3) And of these, barely more than half were Jews. Most of these died in several severe typhoid epidemics caused by wartime conditions, which claimed many lives throughout Germany - including those of doctors, nurses and camp administrative personnel. (...) 1- The American Jewish Committee cites a figure of 15,688,259. 2- The Jewish-owned New York Times for Feb. 22, 1948, uses a figure of 18,700,000. 3- When the Red Cross interviewed thousands of freed camp inmates at the end of the war, asking whether they had witnessed alleged "gassings," the response was universally negative. According to IRC document #9925, June, 1946: "The detainees themselves have not spoken of them." CLIP

Prepare for the Worst, Because Solar Storms Are About to Get Ugly http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/magazine/16-04/st_spaceweather
Every 11 years or so, the sun gets a little pissy. It breaks out in a rash of planet-sized sunspots that spew superhot gas, hurling clouds of electrons, protons, and heavier ions toward Earth at nearly the speed of light. These solar windstorms have been known to knock out power grids and TV broadcasts, and our growing reliance on space-based technology makes us more vulnerable than ever to their effects. On January 3, scientists discovered a reverse-polarity sunspot, signaling the start of a new cycle and some are predicting that at its peak (in about four years) things are gonna get nasty. Here's a forecast for 2012. CLIP
Madagascar: Daewoo's Rainforest Land Grab in Nature's Paradise (June 19, 2009) Please take action! http://www.rainforestportal.org/shared/alerts/send.aspx?id=madagascar_landgrab
The island of Madagascar is a veritable Noah's Ark of biodiversity, and this natural wealth is the country's primary treasure and opportunity for future ecologically sustainable development. The Korean company Daewoo Logistics intends to lease half the agricultural land in Madagascar for 99 years, industrially producing maize and palm oil on 1.3 million hectares that are now biodiversity rich rainforests and gardens. There already exists a severe food crisis nationally and local peoples, who are soon to be dispossessed from their land, are protesting, causing a major government crisis. Tell Daewoo the people of Madagascar have spoken -- and to shove off and leave Madagascar's rainforests, peoples and land alone. (...) Daewoo's land grabs direly threatens Madagascar's marvelously rich and biodiverse rainforests, of which only about 10% remain fully intact and standing. Given millions of years of continental separation, magnificently unique biodiversity has involved, including about 100 species of lemurs. Madagascar's remaining intact old forests and species rich mosaic of small agriculture are to be turned into toxic, oil palm and corn monocultures. Due to the political power struggle and overthrow of the government resulting from the project's secretive negotiation, loggers and animal traders have been violating even protected areas. Daewoo Logistics refuses to accept responsibility for their land grab upon political stability and integrity of protected areas. The vast majority of Malagasy people live in extreme poverty, malnutrition and even starvation. Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world. Two-thirds of the population lives below the poverty line, one third are malnourished and more than half a million people depend upon food supplies from the international community. Daewoo's plans for large scale agro-industrial agriculture for export upon existing local gardens would dramatically exacerbate the situation. Dependence on food imports would continue to grow, food prices would rise and the nutritional situation of people worsen. CLIP
US navy prepares to intercept North Korean ship (19 June 2009) http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jun/19/north-korea-usa-navy-united-nations
Kang Nam vessel suspected of transporting weapons, a violation of UN sanctions imposed last week -- Tension was growing in the Pacific today as the US navy prepared to intercept a North Korean cargo ship suspected of carrying weapons in defiance of a United Nations ban. The US navy has been tracking the Kang Nam since its left a North Korean port on Wednesday.It would be the first ship to be intercepted since the UN last week imposed sanctions on North Korea as punishment for conducting an underground nuclear test last month. The sanctions ban the import and export of nuclear material, missiles and all other weapons other than small arms. A USS destroyer, the John McCain (named after the father of the Republican senator, who was an admiral), was awaiting orders to intercept the ship off the Chinese coast.The UN sanctions only allow the US to hail a North Korean ship and demand to be allowed to conduct a search, but not forcibly board it. North Korea has said a forcible search would be regarded as an act of war. Reflecting heightened tension, the US today began moving radar systems and ground-to-air missiles to Hawaii. The Pentagon said it fears that Pyongyang could test-fire an intercontinental missile in the direction of Hawaii over the next few weeks in retaliation for the UN sanctions. US officials designated the Kang Nam as being of "special interest" soon after it left port.If the North Koreans refuse to allow a US crew to search the ship, the US could order it into the nearest port. Failing that, the USS John McCain could closely follow the ship until it reaches a port. The US would then be entitled to demand, under the UN sanctions agreement, that that country inspect the ship.Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, told reporters at the Pentagon yesterday: "Without going into specific details, clearly we intend to vigorously enforce the United Nations security council resolution." US Congress approves another $80 billion for Iraq, Afghanistan wars (20 June 2009) http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/jun2009/afgh-j20.shtml
The Democratic-controlled Congress has once again approved funding for the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The latest supplemental appropriation bill to fund military operations in the two countries received final passage by the House of Representatives on Tuesday and by the Senate on Thursday. The House vote was 226-202, while the Senate vote was 91-5. This was the 17th such war spending bill to be passed on an emergency basis since 2001. The Bush administration insisted on funding the wars through such supplemental bills, claiming that it was impossible to incorporate war spending into the regular federal budget because the course of the military conflicts was difficult to predict. This practice served not only to insulate military spending from any budgetary constraints, but to lessen congressional scrutiny of the conduct of the two wars. The bills would normally come before the House and Senate with Pentagon and White House pressure to pass them quickly, under the threat (however contrived) that soldiers on the battlefield would otherwise be deprived of bullets, gasoline or food. The Obama administration claims that the current supplemental, initially prepared by the Bush administration, will be the last. For the coming fiscal year, which begins October 1, spending on both wars will be incorporated into the regular Pentagon appropriations bill, which will accordingly swell by another $130 billion over the level of the last Bush budget. In addition to $80 billion in funding for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the 2009 supplemental includes $7.7 billion to fight the swine flu pandemic and $5 billion to support new lending by the International Monetary Fund for countriesmainly in Eastern Europe and the Third Worldfacing currency collapse in the ongoing world financial crisis. CDC: "Something Different" Happening With New Flu (18 June 2009) http://www.truthout.org/061909HA?n
Washington - The new strain of H1N1 flu is causing "something different" to happen in the United States this year - perhaps an extended year-round flu season that disproportionately hits young people, health officials said on Thursday. An unusually cool late spring may be helping keep the infection going in the U.S. Northeast, especially densely populated areas in New York and Massachusetts, the officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. And infections among healthcare workers suggest that people are showing up at work sick - meaning that workplace policies may be contributing to its spread, the CDC officials said. The new strain of swine flu is officially a pandemic now, according to the World Health Organization. So far the virus is causing mild to moderate disease, but it has killed at least 167 people and been confirmed in nearly 40,000 globally. CLIP
Swine Flu - What's happening in the United States ? (19 June 2009) http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/ferguswalsh/
"The U.S. will likely continue to see influenza activity through the summer, and at this point we're anticipating that we will see the novel H1N1 continue with activity probably all the way into our flu season in the fall and winter. The amount of activity we expect to be low, and then pick up later. In terms of the numbers of infections that have been laboratory confirmed as H1N1, there are now more than 17,800 of those in the United States, including around 1,600 that have been hospitalized and 44 that have died. As we have been saying all along, these numbers are likely an underestimate of the number of cases that are out there. There are some surveys that indicate that the amount of disease in the areas that are having activity with H1N1 is perhaps around 7% of the population reporting symptoms due to influenza-like illness. The virus continues to impact mostly younger people. So far it is not causing significant illness and death in the elderly like we would see with seasonal influenza. And the symptoms that are being reported are consistent with influenza, that being predominantly fever, cough, some shortness of breath, fatigue and chills. There is some vomiting and diarrhea that have been associated with cases of this infection. Everyone needs to be alert to the symptoms of the illness, and especially if you have underlying conditions, such as asthma, diabetes and heart disease. "For me the 7% figure jumps out. That would mean many millions of cases in the US already, and be good news because it would mean the risk of serious illness death (already small) was even lower. Earlier CDC estimates reckoned that 19 out of 20 cases were going undetected. CLIP
Iraqi Oil Minister accused of mother of all sell-outs (18 June 2009) http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/iraqi-oil-minister-accused-of-mother-of-all-sellouts-1707906.html
Furious protests threaten to undermine the Iraqi government's controversial plan to give international oil companies a stake in its giant oilfields in a desperate effort to raise declining oil production and revenues.In less than two weeks, on 29 and 30 June, the Iraqi Oil Minister, Hussain Shahristani, will award service contracts to the world's largest oil companies to develop six of Iraq's largest oil-producing fields over 20 to 25 years. (...) The development of Iraq's oil reserves is of great importance to the world's energy supply in the 21st century. They may be even larger than Saudi Arabia's, as there was little exploration while Iraq was ruled by Saddam Hussein. International oil companies are desperate to get their foot in the door."Everyone wants to be in Iraq," says Ruba Husari, an expert on Iraqi oil. "Together with Iran, this is the only oil province in the world that has great potential. It is a great opportunity for oil companies because nobody knows the size of Iraq's reserves. Iraq itself needs to know what is under its soil."But Iraqis are wary of the involvement of foreign oil companies in raising production in super giant fields like Kirkuk and Bai Hassan in the north and Rumaila, Zubair and West Qurna in the south. They suspect the 2003 US invasion was ultimately aimed at securing Western control of their oil wealth. The nationalisation of the Iraqi oil industry by Saddam Hussein in 1972 remains popular and the rebellion against the service contracts has been gathering pace all this week. (...) The contracts are not particularly favourable to the international oil companies. They are rather the outcome of the companies' extreme eagerness to get into Iraq and the government's attempt to obtain expertise and investment without ceding control. (...) Many Iraqis will be angered to see their historic oilfields being partially run by foreign companies. But the government believes it has no choice.
Suitcase With $134 Billion Puts Dollar on Edge (June 17) http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&sid=a62_boqkurbI
Its a plot better suited for a John Le Carre novel. Two Japanese men are detained in Italy after allegedly attempting to take $134 billion worth of U.S. bonds over the border into Switzerland. Details are maddeningly sketchy, so naturally the global rumor mill is kicking into high gear.Are these would-be smugglers agents of Kim Jong Il stashing North Koreas cash in a Swiss vault? Bagmen for Nigerian Internet scammers? Was the money meant for terrorists looking to buy nuclear warheads? Is Japan dumping its dollars secretly? Are the bonds real or counterfeit? The implications of the securities being legitimate would be bigger than investors may realize. At a minimum, it would suggest that the U.S. risks losing control over its monetary supply on a massive scale.The trillions of dollars of debt the U.S. will issue in the next couple of years needs buyers. Attracting them will require making sure that existing ones arent losing faith in the U.S.s ability to control the dollar.The dollar is, for better or worse, the core of our world economy and its best to keep it stable. News thats more fitting for international spy novels than the financial pages wont help that effort. It is incumbent upon the U.S. Treasury to get to the bottom of this tale and keep markets informed. GDP CarriersThink about it: These two guys were carrying the gross domestic product of New Zealand or enough for three Beijing Olympics. If economies were for sale, the men could buy Slovakia and Croatia and have plenty left over for Mongolia or Cambodia. Yes, they could have built vacation homes amidst Genghis Khans Gobi Desert or the famed Temples of Angkor. Bernard Madoff who? These men carrying bonds concealed in the bottom of their luggage also would be the fourth-largest U.S. creditors. It makes you wonder if some of the time Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner spends keeping the Chinese and Japanese invested in dollars should be devoted to well-financed men crossing the Italian-Swiss border. This tale has gotten little attention in markets, perhaps because of the absurdity of our times. The last year has been a decidedly disorienting one for capitalists who once knew up from down, red from black and risk from reward. It almost fits with the surreal nature of today that a couple of travelers have more U.S. debt than Brazil in a suitcase and, well, thats life. CLIP
Sri Lankan Tamil detainees still held in terrible conditions (20 June 2009) http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/jun2009/slca-j20.shtml
Despite legal challenges by detainees and expressions of concern by UN and international aid agencies, the Sri Lankan government is continuing to hold nearly 300,000 Tamil civilians indefinitely in huge internment camps. Not only are the detainees denied their basic legal and democratic rights, but now face growing dangers of disease. Only a handful of elderly people and young children have been released from the camps, with the government insisting that the vast majority must remain behind the barbed wire fences until the military can weed out supporters of the separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). According to a June 11 situation report by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 280,812 people have now been placed in the camps, but just 2,234 have been released. There is no sign that Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse intends to keep the promise made last month to resettle all detainees within six months. With the onset of the monsoon due, aid agencies are warning that the overcrowded and unsanitary conditions could produce a water-borne disease epidemic. Chicken pox, hepatitis and diarrhoea outbreaks have been reported in the camps. Richard Schmidt, Sri Lankan head of the international humanitarian organisation Solidar in Vavuniya, said the outbreaks would worsen, if water and sanitation does not improve. CLIP
Gardasil's Terrible Consequences http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/646.html
We warned about this two years ago. In fact, we were so concerned we made our own video about the subject. We said that Gardasil was a pharmaceutical/government fraud not only based on bad science and bad medicine, but also a serious danger to the girls and young women who were being herded into receiving it. I would much rather have been proven wrong. Government officials in many states would still like to make this three series vaccination mandatory for all girls. By the way, it's total fraud to say that Gardasil prevents cervical cancer. It does no such thing. The idiots in the mainstream news media who are complicit in helping to sell this garbage at least owe it to the public to get the basic facts straight.

Subject: The Ascension Papers: Joy-Divine
I've got a friend named Zingdad in Capetown who is a musician and also has been channeling some excellent material lately. He recently added a series of his sessions to his website, and is putting it together as a book entitled the Ascension Papers. Each chapter is a session with where he asks questions to his most inner self, Joy-Divine, and then types the answers. His questions are such that the answers are quite reachable for a wide range of interests. And they are quite profound subjects, with a distillation that has caused them to be packed with light and blessings for light seekers. As issues are reaching such dynamics in these times, this light is a wonderful answer for so many that I figured I needed to have you check it out and pass it on if you see fit. His writings are being located here:
Note from Jean: It looks good indeed. Lots of various things offered there. Here is an excerpt from the Foreword as a teaser: http://www.zingdad.com/example-pages.html
(...) The objective of this foreword is to invite you to read this work and therefore I feel I should give you an indication of what you can expect from it. The Ascension Papers are, unsurprisingly, about ascension: yours, mine and everyone else on this planets. Our global ascension. This work seeks to give you a perspective on what that is about, what it might mean to you and how you might best facilitate your own ascension process. But, it seems, one cannot address this all-important topic without dealing with a huge host of other topics as a part of the discussion. So, aside from presenting the ascension concept in some depth, you may expect to see conversations on: Why are we actually here? Why did we incarnate as humans and what does this all mean? What is the nature of the higher-self and what is our relationship with our higher-selves? What is a spirit-guide? What is Oneness and why is it important? What is truth, what is love and what is joy? Why is the world in the state it is in and how did it come to be like this? What REALLY happened in our pre-historical and mythological times? What about 2012 and the apocalypse and the Mayan calendar and all that? What are soul-mates and twin-flames? Why does evil exist? Why is there fear and why is there pain? What about extraterrestrials, UFOs, light-ships and the like? What about religion? What about prophets, saviours, demons and devils? What about science? Does it have any value to us as beings that are on a spiritual path? and this is just a smattering of the many interesting topics that will be addressed in, Im sure you will agree, quite a refreshing new way. But all of the many and varied topics will ultimately serve one grand purpose. And that is to set before you an invitation. It is an invitation to a whole new reality. A whole new life in a whole new world in a grand, golden age of humanity! I, as the incarnated aspect of a much greater being, have the wonderful privilege of bringing this invitation to you here in this life on planet earth. If you accept the invitation then you will be able to join me and a host of other beings in what seems to me to be the most wondrous future reality imaginable. But I wont go into the details of that now. It will all unfold to you as you read this work. The point I wish to make is that I DO NOT insist that you must agree with me, believe what I say or subjugate your truth to mine. That is the opposite of what I want. I simply invite you to read what I have written with your own discernment and truth firmly in place. If you find resonance with what is presented then that is well. That means the ideas presented here are, to a large degree, right for you. If, as you read this, you feel emotional upwellings and tingles, if you feel something special and profound happening in your physical or emotional body then your heart and soul are telling you that you are busy accepting the invitation to come and co-create this new reality with me. If, on the other hand, this material reads like a bunch of far-fetched nonsense then you clearly are not finding resonance here. That is equally good because then you can cease reading (as you undoubtedly will) and go and find other material more to your liking. I have no issue at all with that as this work never was going to be applicable to everyone. Probably only a small percentage of people will find this work to be of interest. So feel free to engage or reject what you find here as YOUR OWN TRUTH dictates.You will notice that this work is presented in the form of a series of conversations between myself and a variety of spirit beings. You might wonder how I come to be able to create these dialogues with beings that are not, in the normal sense of the word, present on this earth. In brief, I will address that question by simply stating that I have spent a great many years and a great degree of dedicated effort in teaching myself how to do this. I will in due course, as a part of this work, set out exactly how I do what I do and offer some thoughts as to how you too may develop such a facility should you so desire. Some call what I do channelling and, because that is the commonly used term, Ill just go ahead and call it that too. But if it were up to me Id rather call it intuitive conversation. Because that is what I am experiencing: a conversation that takes place in my intuitive centre. I dont do any strange hocus-pocus or go into a trance or anything. I simply ask the questions that I have and then allow the truth in my heart to provide me with an answer and then I type what I get. CLIP

Lotus birth is the practice of leaving the umbilical cord uncut, so that the baby remains attached to his/her placenta until the cord naturally separates at the umbilicus- exactly as a cut cord does- at 3 to 10 days after birth. This prolonged contact can be seen as a time of transition, allowing the baby to slowly and gently let go of his/her attachment to the mother's body.
Although we have no written records of cultures who leave the cord uncut, many traditional peoples hold the placenta in high esteem. For example, Maori people from New Zealand bury the placenta ritually on the ancestral marae, and the Hmong, a hill tribe from South East Asia, believe that the placenta must be retrieved after death to ensure physical integrity in the next life: a Hmong baby's placenta is buried inside the house of its birth.
Lotus Birth is a new ritual for us, having been only described in monkeys before 1974, when Clair Lotus Day- pregnant and living in California- began to question the routine cutting of the cord. Her searching led her to an obstetrician who was sympathetic to her wishes, and her son Trimurti was born in hospital and taken home with his cord uncut. Lotus Birth was named by, and seeded through Clair to Jeannine Parvati Baker in the US and Shivam Rachana in Australia, who have both been strong advocates for this gentle practice.
Since 1974, many babies have been born this way, including babies born at home and in hospital, on land and in water, and even by caesarean section. Lotus birth is a beautiful and logical extension of natural childbirth, and invites us to reclaim the so-called third stage of birth, and to honour the placenta, our baby's first source of nourishment.
I am a New Zealand GP (MD in America), and have 4 children born at home in my adopted country, Australia. I have experienced Lotus birth with my second and subsequent children, after being drawn to it during my second pregnancy through contact with Shivam Rachana, co-founder of the Centre for Human Transformation, based in Melbourne. Lotus birth made sense to me at the time, as I remembered my time training in GP obstetrics, and the strange and uncomfortable feeling of cutting through the gristly, fleshy cord that connects baby to placenta and mother. The feeling for me was like cutting through a boneless toe, and it felt good to avoid this cutting with my coming baby.
Through the CHT I spoke with women who had chosen this for their babies, and experienced a beautiful post-natal time. Some women also described their Lotus-Birth child's self-possession and completeness. Others described it as a challenge, practically and emotionally. Nicholas, my partner, was concerned that it might interfere with the magic of those early days, but was happy to go along with my wishes.
Zoe, our second child, was born at home on the 10th of September 1993. Her placenta was, unusually, an oval shape, which was perfect for the red velvet placenta bag which I had sewn. Soon after the birth, we wrapped her placenta in a cloth nappy, then in the placenta bag, and bundled it up with her in a shawl that enveloped both of them. Every 24 hours, we attended to the placenta by patting it dry, coating it liberally with salt, and dropping a little lavender oil onto it. Emma, who was 2, was keen to be involved in the care of her sister's placenta.
As the days passed, Zoe's cord dried from the umbilical end, and became thin and brittle. It developed a convenient 90 degree kink where it threaded through her clothes, and so did not rub or irritate her. The placenta, too, dried and shrivelled due to our salt treatment, and developed a slightly meaty smell, which interested our cat!
Zoe's cord separated on the 6th day, without any fuss; other babies have cried inconsolably or held their cord tightly before separation. We planted her placenta under a mandarin tree on her first birthday, which our dear friend and neighbour Annie later dug up and put in a pot when we moved interstate. She told us later that the mandarins from the tree were the sweetest she had ever tasted.
Our third child, Jacob Patrick, was born on the 25th September 1995, at home into water. Jacob and I stayed in the water for some time after the birth, so we floated his placenta in an ice-cream carton (with the lid on, and a corner cut out for the cord) while I nursed him. This time, we put his placenta in a sieve to drain for the first day. I neither dressed nor carried Jacob at this time, but stayed in a still space with him, while Nicholas cared for Emma, 4, and Zoe, 2. His cord separated in just under 4 days, and I felt that he drank deeply of the stillness of that time.
His short "breaking forth" time was perfect because my parents arrived from New Zealand the following day to help with our household. He later chose a Jacaranda tree under which to bury his placenta at our new home in Queensland.
My fourth baby, Maia Rose, was born in Brisbane on 26 July 2000. We had a beautiful "Do It Yourself" birth at home, and my intuition told me that her breaking forth time would be short. I decided not to treat her placenta at all, but kept it in a sieve over a bowl in the daytime, and in the placenta bag at night. The cord separated in just under 3 days and, although it was a cool time of year, it did get a meaty smell, and became very friable. (Salt treatment would have prevented this). I cut off a piece of Maia's cord to keep for her; this is now hard and twisted, like dried seaweed. Her placenta is still in our freezer, awaiting the right time for burial.
My older children have blessed me with stories of their lives before birth, and have been unanimously in favour of not cutting the cord- especially Emma, who remembered the unpleasant feeling of having her cord cut, which she describes as being "painful in my heart". Lotus birth is a beautiful ritual which has enhanced the magic of the early post natal days for our family. I notice an integrity and self-possession with my lotus-born children, and I believe that lovingness, cohesion, attunement to nature and respect for the natural order have all been imprinted on our family by our honouring of the placenta, the Tree of Life, through Lotus Birth. Common Questions about Lotus Birth http://www.lotusfertility.com/Lotus_Birth_Q/Lotus_Birth_QA.html
Q: What is Lotus Birth exactly?
A: The practice of neonatal umbilical intactness - nonseverance of the umbilical cord - and absence of any potential portal of navel infection. The birth practice of the early American pioneers who produced some of the hardiest children known in American history... and valued everything they had. Also called "Umbilical Nonseverance." The baby, cord, and placenta are treated as one unit, as they are all originate from the same cellular source (egg and sperm). This informed choice practice requests healthcare providers to follow the protocols of "Passive Management" of Third Stage Labor, and also forego invasive cord clamping. The baby is born and remains attached to its cord while the placenta is birthed. The baby's placenta-cord is kept in-situ with the baby, gently wrapped in cloth or kept in an uncovered bowl near the mother, and the cord is sometimes wrapped in silk ribbon up to the baby's belly. The cord quickly dries and shrinks in diameter, similar to sinew, and detaches often by the 3rd Postpartum day (but up to a week in certain humid indoor air conditions) leaving a perfect navel. Interestingly, extended-delayed cord clamping & severing (just waiting more than an hour after the baby's birth), results in quicker cord stump healing, with an average of only one week for detachment of the stump, which makes a big difference for diaper changing!
Q: Why bother to question cord-cutting protocols? Why change family traditions?
A: Care providers and parents who have experienced Lotus Birth babies observe that they are demonstrably more relaxed and peaceful babies who do not manifest the common (and stressful to baby and mother) 1 lb. newborn weight loss and breastfeeding jaundice that is associated with the first week of life after "normal" birth's cord cutting, particularly cord cutting within an hour of birth. These observations have yet to be studied by university hospital pediatrics, though hospital lotus births have taken place in Australia. Needless to say, a beneficial impact on child and family development is what motivates the exploration of non-severance options. These intact Lotus babies lose no energy just trying to stabilize their systems in the early postpartum hours and this shows on all levels (relaxation, bountiful healthy weight gain, core muscle strength, fine & gross motor skills, and alert observation of the world around them). This could be called 'accelerated development' but that would be a misnomer: Lotus babies are simply undiminished by stress in a very stressful culture. Their greater capacity for relaxation, compared to nurslings who had early cord severance and placenta loss, is apparently a metabolic foundation for life, and makes teething and other developmental stages much less distressful. It could be concluded that Lotus birth gives babies lifelong coping skills.
Q: What do American hospitals do with all the placentas that currently are unwanted by most birthing families?
A: Unfortunately, the amazing placenta when unwanted is considered "medical waste" and one of two things typically happens: it is put in a biohazardous waste container to be incinerated, or, it is sold, as hospital property, to various research or formulations labs where it lives on in various forms that profit medical research labs, hospitals, and the beauty industry. Yes, and rather horrifyingly, human placenta is an ingredient in several products currently for sale at beauty supply stores and from independent companies - with profits not even going to the true owners of the placenta, the mother-baby. SO MUCH SUFFERING! SO MANY WRONG PRIORITIES! NEARLY ONE HUMAN OUT OF 6 IS PERPETUALLY HUNGRY! "Total official development assistance (ODA) aid from all countries has been about $100 billion a yearas compared to bank bailouts running in the trillions and a US military budget of more than $500 billion." !!!
More than 1 billion people hungry worldwide in 2009
By Joe Kishore -- 20 June 2009
Humanity will achieve the dubious distinction this year of having more than 1 billion members of its species living in hunger for the first time in history.
The number of undernourished is estimated to soar by about 100 million over last year, to 1.02 billion, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The 11 percent surge in the worlds hungry is primarily a product of the global economic crisis, combined with persistently high food prices. World economic output is expected to decline by more than 3 percent this yearthe first global contraction since the Second World War. The economic crisis, the FAO notes, has reduced incomes and employment opportunities of the poor and significantly lowered their access to food.
The worlds hungry are concentrated in Asia and the Pacific (642 million), Sub-Saharan Africa (265 million), Latin America and the Caribbean (53 million), and the Near East and North Africa (42 million). Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest concentration of hungry, while the Middle East and North Africa saw the most rapid growth in the number of hungry people (13.5 percent).
The agencys definition of hunger is based on the number of calories consumed. Depending on the relative age and gender ratios of a given country, the cutoff varies between 1,600 and 2,000 calories a day.
It is likely the FAO figures significantly underestimate the number of people suffering from hunger. A study published earlier this year found that 12 million children are at risk of inadequate food in the United States (see, US: 12 million children face hunger and food insecurity). FAO figures estimate the total number of hungry people in the entire developed world (including the US and Europe) at 15 million.
According to the FAO, the growth of hunger is not the result of a decline in food production. Cereal production, for example, will only slightly decrease this year from 2008. Instead, the poor are less able to purchase food, especially where prices on domestic markets are still stubbornly high.... At the end of 2008, domestic staple foods still cost on average 24 percent more in real terms than two years earlier; a finding that was true across a range of important foodstuffs.
In other words, the sharp growth in hunger is due not to a lack of capacity, although global food production could be significantly increased given a rational and scientific allocation of agricultural resources. Instead, the rise in social misery results from the fact that millions more people are now unable to afford the most basic necessities.
The FAO highlights three aspects of the present crisis that make it particularly severe. First, it follows the rapid growth in food prices in the years 2006-2008. This bubble was driven in part by speculative activities of investors pouring money into commodities as the financial crisis developed. This preceding surge in prices eroded any buffer created by households to cope with economic shocks (see figure).
Second, the crisis is global. The FAO notes, When economic crises are confined to individual countries, or several countries in a particular region, governments can make recourse to instruments such as currency devaluation, borrowing or increased use of official assistance to face the effects of the crisis.
Third, poorer countries are more financially and commercially integrated into the world economy and are therefore far more exposed to changes in international markets. They are highly susceptible to rapid changes in global demand or supply and credit restrictions.
Another related factor not mentioned by the FAO has been the way in which the US government has monopolized credit markets to fund its multi-trillion-dollar bank bailouts, exploiting the privileged position of the American dollar to do so. Poorer countries do not have this privilege and are facing higher borrowing costs as a consequence.
The FAO takes note of the growth in interest rates for debt to developing countries along with the complete absence of available credit for some nations. The economic crisis has led to other rapid shifts in capital markets, including the drying up of foreign direct investment.
Many poorer countries are seeing a sharp decline in remittances from migrants, by 5 to 8 percent. The FAO notes: What is more, remittances have usually been resistant to shocks and often even increased during economic crises in recipient countries. The countercyclical effect of these transfers is unlikely to happen this time due to the global dimension of the current recession.
The FAO also expects foreign aid to drop by 25 percent to the poorest 71 countries. Total official development assistance (ODA) aid from all countries has been about $100 billion a yearas compared to bank bailouts running in the trillions and a US military budget of more than $500 billion.
Countries that rely on exports have been particularly hard hit by the economic crisis, and world trade is anticipated to fall between 5 and 9 percent this year.
The implications of the rapid deterioration of the global economy and the consequent decline in living standards for millions of people were not lost on UN officials. Dr. Jacques Diouf, director-general of the FAO, commented: The silent hunger crisis...poses a serious risk for world peace and security. Josette Sheeran of the World Food Program noted, A hungry world is a dangerous world.
Many commentators pointed to the possibility of a repeat of the food riots that broke out in 2008. Earlier this year, the G8 countries met to discuss the global food emergency. Little emerged from the conference save a mutually expressed concern about the danger of social upheaval and revolution.

Obesity: in statistics (2 January 2008) http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7151813.stm
People are getting fatter almost everywhere in the world. The World Health Organization predicts there will be 2.3 billion overweight adults in the world by 2015 and more than 700 million of them will be obese.Figures for 2005 show 1.6 billion adults were overweight and 400 million were obese. (...) But obesity is not just a problem for adults - the spread of obesity among children is also alarming experts. At least 20 million children under the age of 5 years were overweight globally in 2005, according to the WHO.
Are Fat People Destroying Earth? (21 April 2009) http://www.livescience.com/health/090421-obesity-global-warming.html
The news that fat people could help save Earth by eating less generated big headlines yesterday. But many people question whether it's good science or bad manners to pin the planet's woes on the overweight. The news was based on a report from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, which says: "Because food production is a major contributor to global warming, a lean population, such as that seen in Vietnam, will consume almost 20 percent less food and produce fewer greenhouse gases than a population in which 40 percent of people are obese (close to that seen in the USA today). ... Transport-related emissions will also be lower because it takes less energy to transport slim people. The researchers estimate that a lean population of 1 billion people would emit 1.0 GT (1,000 million tons) less carbon dioxide equivalents per year compared with a fat one."The researchers, Phil Edwards and Ian Roberts, note that obesity is on the rise all over the world. All medical experts agree this is a health problem. Obesity has been linked to everything from deadly diabetes to increased risk of cancer. Many analysts fear the U.S. healthcare system already in bad shape could crumble under the weight of what many doctors see as the obesity epidemic.The scientists are not the first to point out that heavier people have a bigger carbon footprint. But in putting some numbers to it, they've pulled no punches."When it comes to food consumption, moving about in a heavy body is like driving around in a gas guzzler," Edwards and Roberts said in a statement. "The heavier our bodies become the harder and more unpleasant it is to move about in them and the more dependent we become on our cars. Staying slim is good for health and for the environment. We need to be doing a lot more to reverse the global trend towards fatness, and recognize it as a key factor in the battle to reduce emissions and slow climate change." CLIP

American Diets Getting Worse (27 May 2009) http://www.livescience.com/health/090527-healthy-lifestyle.html
Eat your vegetables. Exercise. Don't drink so much beer. Blah. Blah. Blah. Even fewer Americans in their middle and later years adhere to this healthy lifestyle advice than they did two decades ago.Despite the well-known benefits of a lifestyle that includes physical activity, eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables, maintaining a healthy weight, moderate alcohol use and not smoking, only a small proportion of older adults follow this healthy lifestyle pattern, a new survey finds. In fact, the numbers of those who do are declining, even though it's medically clear that positive lifestyle choices are associated with reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease as well as diabetes. The number of people adhering to five healthy habits (exercising 12 times a month or more, not smoking, eating five or more fruits and vegetables daily, moderate alcohol use and maintaining healthy weight) has decreased from 15 percent to 8 percent between the period 1988-1994 and then 2001-2006. The Risks of Genetically Modified Foods -- Food related illnesses in the United States DOUBLED between 1994 and 2001. Did you know that? Here's one of the contributing factors... http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/647.html
"They knew and didn't tell" -- We all know how utterly corrupt the FDA is, but sometimes the full significance of this fact doesn't resonate. This video is a major wake up call. Short version: The FDA gave Monsanto and it friends a free pass on genetically modified organisms. They've helped suppress the science that shows food produced this way is dangerous. Here are the foods that are genetically modified: milk, corn, soybeans, canola oil and cottonseed oil. One simple way to protect yourself is to stop eating these foods unless they come from a certified organic source. TORONTO U.S. President Barack Obama has turned his attention to the sorry state of the Great Lakes, the natural reservoir for 20 percent of the worlds fresh water.
On Saturday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced that the United States would renegotiate the Great Lakes Quality Agreement with Canada. The treaty needs updating to confront new threats, including invasive species, declining water levels, and chemical contamination.
Clinton made the announcement on the Rainbow Bridge, which connects Canada and the U.S. above spectacular Niagara Falls. Nearby, on the American side of the border, is Love Canal, where homes and a school were built on a toxic waste dump. Birth defects and a slew of ailments forced the evacuation of the community in the late 1970s.
A week earlier, Obama appointed a Great Lakes czar to oversee his ambitious clean-up plan. Cameron Davis, a Chicago-based environmentalist, will initially manage $475 million in new spending. Obama has promised $5 billion during the next decade to restore the lakes.
As their first order of business, bureaucrats in both initiatives would be wise to screen "Waterlife," the new documentary by Toronto-based filmmaker Kevin McMahon. Its an arresting look at the actions and neglect that have pushed the lakes to the brink of irreversible collapse, as top scientists have warned.
One of Canadas most innovative filmmakers, McMahon has directed more than 15 documentaries in the past two decades. Whether filming on the media theories of Marshall McLuhan, the music of Bach, or the impact of the Cold War on the Inuit, McMahon challenges conventions. His storytelling is never linear. Like his stunning helicopter shots of the Great Lakes, he strives for the big picture. Meaning lies in the layers his films reveal.
In "Waterlife" winner of the special jury prize at the recent international Hot Docs film festival, and released in Toronto theaters last week McMahon gives equal billing to beauty and doom.
It begins with an image of innocence: an underwater scene of a playful beluga whale. But the whale's habitat about 1,000 belugas live near the mouth of the St. Lawrence River is horribly out of whack. A quarter of the adult white whales are dying of cancer. The likely culprit is upstream, in the soup of chemicals that is the Great Lakes the source of drinking water for 35 million people.
Water from Lake Superior takes an amazing 350 years to wind its way to the St. Lawrence River. It took people on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border a lot less time to fill the waters with waste and poison.
From Superior the water pours down to Lake Michigan, the industrious lake on the American side of the border. Chemicals from heavy industries lie at the bottom of the lake. The toxic sludge gets kicked up by storms or the propellers of freighters and is eaten by fish.
Twenty years ago, the U.S. government identified 43 Great Lakes harbors that are highly contaminated, including with PCBs. Only three have been cleaned up.
The film quotes Marc Tuchman, of the Environmental Protection Agency, estimating that 4 million cubic yards of contaminated sediment need to be dredged and disposed. In some areas, the sediment covers the lake bottom 25 feet deep. At the Fox River, a Lake Michigan tributary where some dredging is taking place, the film shows plastic rolls like giant pythons filled with contaminated sediment.
Also polluting the lakes are billions of liters of raw sewage. Flowing with it are pharmaceuticals that flush through our bodies and down the toilet. Even anti-depressants are being found in high quantities.
Every drug we take is out there, said environmental scientist Chris Metcalfe.
In Lake Huron, fertilizer and human waste is spurring outbreaks of algae that cause some children to break out in blisters.
At the lakes southern tip, where oil refineries dominate the Ontario town of Sarnia, up to 70 percent of male frogs have testicular deformities. Half of their testes are full of ova instead of sperm, said toxicology biologist Pamela Martin, of Canadian Wildlife Services, a branch of the federal government.
The native Aamjiwnaang community there is surrounded by the petrochemical industry. For years, Aamjiwnaang mothers have given birth to two girls for every boy defying the normal ratio of 51 percent boys and 49 percent girls. Door to door surveys of the community have found high rates of cancer, heart ailments and miscarriages.
Making matters worse on the Canadian side is that industry doesnt have to tell government what theyre dumping. Government scientists operate by guessing what chemicals might be present and then testing for them. Recently, they found a flame retardant chemical in the lakes that has been produced for 40 years.
Not surprisingly, fish stocks in the five Great Lakes are dwindling. Species that invaded after canals and locks for shipping were built are partly to blame. Zebra mussels, introduced by the ballast water of European ships, are particularly deadly, reproducing rapidly and siphoning nutrients from the food chain.
Fishermen that havent given up are struggling. Government agencies stock the lakes with millions of trout, but they rarely reproduce. And water levels are decreasing, which some scientists blame on global warming.
Faced with this litany of ecological degradation, Josephine Mandamins journey seems quixotic. The native grandmother was moved by the spirits to walk the Great Lakes 10,000 miles of shoreline. The film shows her offering tobacco to the water and praying it will someday run pure again.
Theres a lot of apathy, she lamented. Ive heard so many times, Youre crazy But we know its for the betterment of the next generations.
In an interview, McMahon applauded Obama for committing far more to clean up the Great Lakes than Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. But Obamas $5 billion promise, if realized, is a drop in the bucket compared to the $1 trillion given to bailout banks from their own greed, McMahon said. Priorities, as usual, are skewed, he said.
(Americans can see "Waterlife" in August, on the Sundance Channel. You can find out more about the film and the state of the Great Lakes through http://waterlife.nfb.ca/ - NOTE from Jean: This is the most fascinating way to discover a movie I've ever seen. I highly recommend you take a couple minutes (or more!) to explore this - and pass your mouse over the small vertical bars at the bottom to see what happens and click on any of them... Aside from that, the story of the destruction of the Great Lakes by the blindness and greed of humans is truly saddening!!!)
Some Observations on the Iranian Presidential Election and Its Aftermath
by Phil Wilayto -- 19 June 2009
As the world watches, massive demonstrations in Iran - some say the largest since the 1979 Revolution - are denouncing the results of the June 12 presidential election. Official announcements that incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad garnered nearly 63 percent of the vote are being met with cries of "fraud" by supporters of his principal challenger, former Prime Minister Mir Hossein Mousavi.
While there's still time to rationally look at the elections, I'd like to offer a few observations.
The dominant view among Western commentators, as well as some progressive members of the Iranian diaspora, is that Mousavi is a "reformer" who favors loosening restrictions on civil liberties within Iran, while being more open to a less hostile relationship with the West. Ahmadinejad, on the other hand, is described as a "hardliner" who demagogically appeals to the poor, while making deliberately provocative statements about the United States and Israel in order to bolster his standing in the Islamic world.
In my opinion, both of the above characterizations are superficial. The fundamental contradiction between the two leading candidates has to do with their respective bases of support and, more importantly, their different approaches to the economy.
Ahmadinejad, himself born into rural poverty, clearly has the support of the poorer classes, especially in the countryside where nearly half the population lives. Why? In part because he pays attention to them, makes sure they receive some benefits from the government and treats them and their religious views and traditions with respect. Mousavi, on the other hand, the son of an urban merchant, clearly appeals more to the urban middle classes, especially the college-educated youth. This being so, why would anyone be surprised that Ahmadinejad carried the vote by a clear majority? Are there now more yuppies in Iran than poor people?
Why is there so little discussion of the issue of class in this election? Is it because so many professional and semi-professional commentators on Iran are themselves from the same class as Mousavi's supporters, and so instinctively identify with them? Myself, I'm a worker, and a former union organizer. When I watched the videos and viewed the photos of the pro-Mousavi rallies in Tehran and other cities, I didn't feel elated - I felt a chill. To me, this didn't look like a liberal reform movement, it felt like a movement whose real target is a government that exercises a "preferential option for the poor," to use the words of Christian liberation theology.
How about the economy?
A big issue in Iran - virtually never discussed in the US media - is how to interpret Article 44 of the country's constitution. That article states that the economy must consist of three sectors: state-owned, cooperative and private, and that "all large-scale and mother industries" are to be entirely owned by the state. This includes the oil and gas industries, which provide the government with the majority of its revenue. This is what enables the government, in partnership with the large charity foundations, to fund the vast social safety net that allows the country's poor to live much better lives than they did under the US-installed Shah.
In 2004, Article 44 was amended to allow for some privatization. Just how much and how swiftly that process should proceed is a fundamental dividing line in Iranian politics. Mousavi has promised to speed up the privatization process. And when he first announced he would run for the presidency, he called for moving away from an "alms-based " economy (PressTV, 4/13/09), an obvious reference to Ahmadinejad's policies of providing services and benefits to the poor.
In addition to their different class bases and approaches to the economy, Ahmadinejad presents an uncompromising front against the West, and especially against the US government. This is a source of great national pride and has produced some positive results. For example, President Obama has now actually admitted, at least in part, that it was the US that in 1953 overthrew the democratically elected government of Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh.
The whole idea that tossing Ahmadinejad out of office would make it easier to change US policy toward Iran is, in my opinion, very naive. Was Dr. Mossadegh a crazy demagogue? No, but he did lead the movement to nationalize Iran's oil industry. If Mousavi, as president, were to strongly state that he would refuse to consider any surrender of Iran's sovereign right to develop nuclear power for peaceful energy purposes, that he would continue to support the resistance organizations Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, that he would continue to try and increase Iran's political role in the Middle East and that he would defend state ownership of the oil and gas industries, would the Western media portray him as a reasonable man?
Further, there's the nature of Mousavi's election campaign. Obama called it a "robust" debate, which it certainly was, and a good refutation of the lie that Iran has no democracy. But it is also a political movement, one capable of drawing large crowds out into the streets, ready to engage in street battles with the president's supporters and now the police.
Is it possible that the US government, its military and its 16 intelligence agencies are piously standing on the sidelines of this developing conflict, respecting Iran's right to work out its internal differences on its own? Could we expect that approach from the same government that still maintains its own 30-year sanctions against Iran, is responsible for three sets of UN-imposed sanctions, annually spends $70 to 90 million to fund "dissident" organizations within Iran and, according to the respected investigative reporter Seymour Hersh, actually has US military personnel on the ground within Iran, supporting terrorist organizations like the Jundallah and trying to foment armed rebellions against the government?
The point has been made that US neocons were hoping for an Ahmadinejad victory, on the theory that he makes a convenient target for Iran-bashers. But the neocons are no longer in power in Washington. They got voted out of office and are back to writing position papers for right-wing think tanks. We now have a "pragmatic" administration, one that would like to first dialog with the countries it seeks to control.
I think what is important to realize is that Washington wasn't just hoping for a "reform" candidate to win the election - it's been hoping for an anti-government movement that looks to the West for its political and economic inspiration. Mousavi backer and former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani is a free-market advocate and businessman whom Forbes magazine includes in its list of the world's richest people. Does Rafsanjani identify with or seek to speak for the poor? Does Mousavi?
What kind of Iran are the Mousavi forces really hoping to create? And why is Washington - whose preference for "democracy" is trumped every time by its insatiable appetite for raw materials, cheap labor, new markets and endless profits - so sympathetic to the "reform" movements in Iran and in every other country whose people have nationalized its own resources?
Would Iran be better off with a president who, instead of qualifying everything he says about the Holocaust, just came out directly and said, "Look, there's no question that millions of Jewish people were murdered in a campaign of genocide, but how does that justify creating a Jewish state on land that is the ancestral home of the Palestinians?" That would certainly make the job of anti-war activists much easier - and if you look hard enough, you can find something close to those words in Ahmadinejad's statements.
But it wouldn't be enough. The US government and its complementary news media would just find another hook on which to hang their demonization of Iran and its government.
The days ahead promise to be challenging ones for all those who oppose war, sanctions and interference in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. As we pursue that work, it would be good not to get caught up in what is sure to be a tsunami of criticism of a government trying to resolve a crisis that in all likelihood is not entirely homegrown.

"While it is important to explore the different class interests that the Almadinejad and Mousavi forces represent, it is equally important to consider the fact that it is un-elected religious fundamentalist with sometimes medieval perspectives on women and human rights, who control Iran's government. These religious fundamentalists seek to keep women in an extremely subservient role, while similarly oppressing the younger generation, those under 30, who makes up some 70% of the Iranian voters. There are working class as well as middle class youth participating in the movement to contest the election results. One wonders how someone like Hugo Chavez would react if the Catholic church hierarchy in Venezuela had the power to decide who could run in Venezuelan elections, what the country's foreign policy would be, and had total control over its military forces. This is the reality in Iran. As long as the Mullahs can decide who gets to run for election, there is no real democracy there, just as there is no real democracy in the United States, where a handful of wealthy corporate campaign donors really decide who will be permitted to run for election. Only those who can amass millions of dollars in campaign funds can run for its major political offices. There are thus many different class and cultural forces in play in the current Iranian rebellion over the election results, forces which go by beyond the election results and the personalties involved. In this fluid situation, a simplistic class analysis does not tell anywhere near the whole story, nor can it predict its end."
"Several points. Mousavi was a favorite of Khomeni and served as head of the Revolutiona Guards. He is very much part of this Establishment. Rasfanjani is also. He was a major figure in the revolution/ Also, Iranian sources confirm that almost seventy five percent of Iranians live in cities. Mr. Walayto does a disservice to the students who are demonstrating and risking not only their careers but their lives. I wish young people all over the world were emulating them, demanding not to be lied to by their governments. I have no doubt that CIA has people on the ground in Iran. It is an insidious organization. But I don''t think they are behind the mass demonstrations against the government. The best way to get them out of their is for the anti-government forces to succeed. They don't want to be puppets of the United States."
"This article is missing the point. America has no business telling Iran who their leader should be. Which leader would be "better" for us doesn't figure into supporting people who are currently the victims of civil rights offenses. Most educated people already know there are problems with both Mousavi and Ahmadinejad. This isn't about how the media is characterizing the candidates. This is about how no one deserves to have their government openly lie to them about the results of an election, first, and second, and most importantly, no one deserves to be censored or *killed* for speaking their mind. Americans have had their fair share of demanding recounts. It's not about which side wins. It's about the fact that when we demanded recounts, people didn't come into our homes and murder us."

Defiant Tehran protesters battle police (June 20, 2009) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090620/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_iran_election
TEHRAN, Iran Thousands of protesters defied Iran's highest authority Saturday and marched on waiting security forces that fought back with baton charges, tear gas and water cannons as the crisis over disputed elections lurched into volatile new ground.In a separate incident, a state-run television channel reported that a suicide bombing at the shrine of the Islamic Revolution leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini killed at least two people and wounded eight. The report could be not independently evaluated due to government restrictions on journalists. If proven true, the reports could enrage conservatives and bring strains among backers of opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi. Another state channel broadcast images of broken glass but no other damage or casualties, and showed a witness saying three people had been wounded. The extent of injuries in the street battles also was unclear. Some witnesses said dozens were hurt and gunfire was heard.Some bloggers and Twitter users claimed that there had been numerous fatalities in Saturday's unrest, reports that could not be immediately verified.The clashes along one of Tehran's main avenues as described by witnesses had far fewer demonstrators than recent mass rallies for Mousavi. But they marked another blow to authorities who sought to intimidate protesters with harsh warnings and lines of black-clad police three deep in places. (...) Khamenei sided firmly with Ahmadinejad on Friday, saying the vote reflected popular will and ordering opposition leaders to end street protests.A report on Press TV listed the fallout from the unrest, including 700 buildings and 300 banks damaged and 400 police hurt. It gave no similar list for the protesters. At least seven people have died, according to the official Iranian count, but the total could be more.Mousavi's extremely slim hope of having the election results annulled rest with Iran's Guardian Council, an unelected body of 12 clerics and Islamic law experts. But Mousavi and another moderate candidate in the race, Mahdi Karroubi, did not appear at a meeting called to discuss their allegations of fraud, a council official told state TV.The council has said it was prepared to conduct a limited recount of ballots at sites where candidates claim irregularities. In a letter to the council, posted on one of Mousavi's Web site, he listed alleged violations that include his representatives being expelled from polling stations and fake ballots at some mobile polling stations. The government has blocked Web sites such as BBC Farsi, Facebook, Twitter and several pro-Mousavi sites used by Iranians to tell the world about protests and violence. Text messaging has not been working in Iran since last week, and cell phone service in Tehran is frequently down.But that won't stifle the opposition networks, said Sami Al Faraj, president of the Kuwait Center for Strategic Studies."They can resort to whispering ... they can do it the old-fashioned way," he said.
Are the Iranian Election Protests Another US Orchestrated 'Color Revolution'? by Paul Craig Roberts (June 20, 2009) http://www.opednews.com/articles/Are-the-Iranian-Election-P-by-Paul-Craig-Roberts-090620-507.html
A number of commentators have expressed their idealistic belief in the purity of Mousavi, Montazeri, and the westernized youth of Teheran. The CIA destabilization plan, announced two years ago (see below) has somehow not contaminated unfolding events.The claim is made that Ahmadinejad stole the election, because the outcome was declared too soon after the polls closed for all the votes to have been counted. However, Mousavi declared his victory several hours before the polls closed. This is classic CIA destabilization designed to discredit a contrary outcome. It forces an early declaration of the vote. The longer the time interval between the preemptive declaration of victory and the release of the vote tally, the longer Mousavi has to create the impression that the authorities are using the time to fix the vote. It is amazing that people dont see through this trick.As for the grand ayatollah Montazeris charge that the election was stolen, he was the initial choice to succeed Khomeini, but lost out to the current Supreme Leader. He sees in the protests an opportunity to settle the score with Khamenei. Montazeri has the incentive to challenge the election whether or not he is being manipulated by the CIA, which has a successful history of manipulating disgruntled politicians.There is a power struggle among the ayatollahs. Many are aligned against Ahmadinejad because he accuses them of corruption, thus playing to the Iranian countryside where Iranians believe the ayatollahs' lifestyles indicate an excess of power and money. In my opinion, Ahmadinejad's attack on the ayatollahs is opportunistic. However, it does make it odd for his American detractors to say he is a conservative reactionary lined up with the ayatollahs. Irans supreme leader sets stage for confrontation (20 June 2009) http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/jun2009/iran-j20.shtml
With an uncompromising speech at Fridays prayers, Irans supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has set the stage for a potentially bloody confrontation with opposition leaders demanding a re-run of the June 12 presidential election. Tens of thousands have joined daily opposition protests in Tehran and other cities over the past week after the incumbent president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, defeated his principal rival, Mir Hossein Mousavi, by 63 percent to 34 percent. Both Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi, the second reform candidate, have branded the outcome as rigged and rejected a proposal from the Guardian Council for a partial recount. Immediately and virtually in unison, the US and Western media accepted uncritically the claims of massive electoral fraud by Mousavi, and continue to do so with scant evidence to back up their claims. The American media has been particularly provocative in its coverage of the Iranian events. The Obama administration has largely relied on the media in its efforts to exploit the protests and the divisions within the clerical establishment, with the aim of destabilising Ahmadinejad, further isolating him internationally, and creating the conditions to replace him with a leader more amendable to US interests. Tehran braces for crackdown as protesters vow to defy Khamenei (19 June 2009) http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jun/19/iran-khamenei-mousavi-opposition-protests
Iran's opposition faces a critical test of resolve and the country an uncertain future tomorrow after the Islamic regime's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a blunt warning to those involved in mass protests over last week's "stolen" presidential election that they would "bear the responsibility" for any bloodshed.Khamenei rejected accusations of fraud in the poll, confirmed the incumbent, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, as the winner, and gave no ground to the millions of Iranians demanding their votes back.Mir Hossein Mousavi, who claims he beat Ahmadinejad in the race, was said by an ally to have no plans for unauthorised rallies tomorrow following the warning, but supporters vowed to go on protesting. Fears grew tonight of an intensifying crackdown on media and opposition activists. Students at the fine arts faculty of Tehran University where scores of students were injured and some reported killed after raids by security forces earlier this week announced an indefinite sit-in starting tomorrow. Khamenei's closely watched speech at prayers at Tehran University could hardly have been tougher. It had been hoped he might adopt a more conciliatory tone that would help defuse the gathering crisis, the worst in Iran's 30-year post-revolutionary history. But he warned: "If there is any bloodshed, the leaders of the protests will be held directly responsible. The result of the election comes from the ballot box, not from the street. Today the Iranian nation needs calm." CLIP
Iran's History of Civil Insurrections (June 19, 2009) http://www.huffingtonpost.com/stephen-zunes/irans-history-of-civil-in_b_217998.html
The growing nonviolent insurrection in Iran against the efforts by the ruling clerics to return the ultra-conservative and increasingly autocratic incumbent president Mahmoud Ahmadinjead to power is growing. Whatever the outcome, it represents an exciting and massive outpouring of Iranian civil society for a more open and pluralistic society. Ironically, defenders of Ahmadinejad's repression are trying to blame everyone from the U.S. government to nonviolent theorist Gene Sharp to various small NGOs engaged in educational efforts on strategic nonviolent action as somehow being responsible for the popular uprising in Iran. It appears to be based upon the rather bizarre assumption that millions of Iranians would somehow be willing to pour out onto the streets in the face of violent repression by state security forces only because they have been directed to do so by people from an imperialist power which overthrew their last democratic government and subsequently propped up the tyrannical regime they installed in its place for the next quarter century. Even putting aside the bizarre spectacle of self-proclaimed "leftists" coming to the defense of a right-wing fundamentalist autocratic like Ahmadinejad, this claim ignores several key factors:One is that neo-conservatives and other American hawks were hoping for a victory by the hard-line incumbent to justify their opposition to President Barack Obama's tentative steps at rapprochement with the Islamic Republic. (See my article "Why American Neo-Cons Want Ahmadinejad to Win")Another is that opposition candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi and the vast majority of his supporters are strongly nationalist, anti-American, anti-imperialist, and would neither desire nor accept U.S. support. (See my article "Iran's Stolen Election Has Sparked an Uprising")Most importantly, there has been a longstanding Iranian tradition of such largely nonviolent civil insurrections against imperialist powers and autocratic rulers and no outside power is needed to convince the Iranian people to rebel. Indeed, the idea of Americans having to teach Iranians about massive nonviolent resistance is like Americans teaching Iranians to cook fesenjan.Most Iranians - who have traditionally been very proud of their political, social and cultural history - would find it rather bizarre to learn that some Western bloggers, ignorant of that very history, are insisting that the recent protests are a result not of their own anger at an apparent stolen election and continued autocratic rule, but simply because some Americans have told them to.In reality, uprisings like the one witnessed in recent days have occurred with some regularity in Iran since the late 1800s. Obama Clueless on Iran By Charles Krauthammer (June 19, 2009) http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/06/19/obama_clueless_on_iran.html
(...) Moreover, this incipient revolution is no longer about the election. Obama totally misses the point. The election allowed the political space and provided the spark for the eruption of anti-regime fervor that has been simmering for years and awaiting its moment. But people aren't dying in the street because they want a recount of hanging chads in suburban Isfahan. They want to bring down the tyrannical, misogynist, corrupt theocracy that has imposed itself with the very baton-wielding goons that today attack the demonstrators.This started out about election fraud. But like all revolutions, it has far outgrown its origins. What's at stake now is the very legitimacy of this regime -- and the future of the entire Middle East.This revolution will end either as a Tiananmen (a hot Tiananmen with massive and bloody repression or a cold Tiananmen with a finer mix of brutality and co-optation) or as a true revolution that brings down the Islamic Republic.The latter is improbable but, for the first time in 30 years, not impossible. Imagine the repercussions. It would mark a decisive blow to Islamist radicalism, of which Iran today is not just standard-bearer and model, but financier and arms supplier. It would do to Islamism what the collapse of the Soviet Union did to communism -- leave it forever spent and discredited.In the region, it would launch a second Arab spring. The first in 2005 -- the expulsion of Syria from Lebanon, first elections in Iraq and early liberalization in the Gulf states and Egypt -- was aborted by a fierce counterattack from the forces of repression and reaction, led and funded by Iran.Now, with Hezbollah having lost elections in Lebanon and with Iraq establishing the institutions of a young democracy, the fall of the Islamist dictatorship in Iran would have an electric and contagious effect. The exception -- Iraq and Lebanon -- becomes the rule. Democracy becomes the wave. Syria becomes isolated; Hezbollah and Hamas, patronless. The entire trajectory of the region is reversed.All hangs in the balance. The Khamenei regime is deciding whether to do a Tiananmen. And what side is the Obama administration taking? None. Except for the desire that this "vigorous debate" (press secretary Robert Gibbs' disgraceful euphemism) over election "irregularities" not stand in the way of U.S.-Iranian engagement on nuclear weapons. Extraordinary scenes: Robert Fisk in Iran (June 17, 2009) http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/06/17/2600571.htm
As he explains, he has been travelling around the streets of Tehran all day and most of the night and things are far from quiet:I've just been witnessing a confrontation, in dusk and into the night, between about 15,000 supporters of Ahmadinejad - supposedly the president of Iran - who are desperate to down the supporters of Mr Mousavi, who thinks he should be the president of Iran.There were about 10,000 Mousavi men and women on the streets, with approximately 500 Iranian special forces, trying to keep them apart.It was interesting that the special forces - who normally take the side of Ahmadinejad's Basij militia - were there with clubs and sticks in their camouflage trousers and their purity white shirts and on this occasion the Iranian military kept them away from Mousavi's men and women. In fact at one point, Mousavi's supporters were shouting 'thank you, thank you' to the soldiers. One woman went up to the special forces men, who normally are very brutal with Mr Mousavi's supporters, and said 'can you protect us from the Basij?' He said 'with God's help'.It was quite extraordinary because it looked as if the military authorities in Tehran have either taken a decision not to go on supporting the very brutal militia - which is always associated with the presidency here - or individual soldiers have made up their own mind that they're tired of being associated with the kind of brutality that left seven dead yesterday - buried, by the way secretly by the police - and indeed the seven or eight students who were killed on the university campus 24 hours earlier. Quite a lot of policeman are beginning to smile towards the demonstrators of Mr Mousavi, who are insisting there must be a new election because Mr Ahmadinejad wasn't really elected. Quite an extraordinary scene.There were a lot of stones thrown and quite a lot of bitter fighting, hand-to-hand but at the end of the day the special forces did keep them apart.I haven't ever seen the Iranian security authorities behaving fairly before and it's quite impressive. (...) My suspicion is that [Ahmadinejad] might have actually won the election but more like 52 or 53 per cent. It's possible that Mousavi got closer to 38 per cent.But I think the Islamic republic's regime here wanted to humiliate the opponent and so fiddle the figures, even if Ahmadinejad had won. The problem with that is they're now going to claim they're going to need a recount. If the recount is to actually give Mousavi the presidency, someone is going to have to pay the price for such an extraordinary fraud of claiming Ahmadinejad won 30, 40, 50 per cent more than he should have done. You've got to remember as well, on the election night, if the count was correct it meant that they would have had to have counted five million votes in two hours. CLIP
The Iranian People Speak (June 15, 2009) http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/06/14/AR2009061401757.html
The election results in Iran may reflect the will of the Iranian people. Many experts are claiming that the margin of victory of incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was the result of fraud or manipulation, but our nationwide public opinion survey of Iranians three weeks before the vote showed Ahmadinejad leading by a more than 2 to 1 margin -- greater than his actual apparent margin of victory in Friday's election. (...) Independent and uncensored nationwide surveys of Iran are rare. Typically, preelection polls there are either conducted or monitored by the government and are notoriously untrustworthy. By contrast, the poll undertaken by our nonprofit organizations from May 11 to May 20 was the third in a series over the past two years. Conducted by telephone from a neighboring country, field work was carried out in Farsi by a polling company whose work in the region for ABC News and the BBC has received an Emmy award. Our polling was funded by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. The breadth of Ahmadinejad's support was apparent in our preelection survey. (...) Some might argue that the professed support for Ahmadinejad we found simply reflected fearful respondents' reluctance to provide honest answers to pollsters. Yet the integrity of our results is confirmed by the politically risky responses Iranians were willing to give to a host of questions. For instance, nearly four in five Iranians -- including most Ahmadinejad supporters -- said they wanted to change the political system to give them the right to elect Iran's supreme leader, who is not currently subject to popular vote. Similarly, Iranians chose free elections and a free press as their most important priorities for their government, virtually tied with improving the national economy. These were hardly "politically correct" responses to voice publicly in a largely authoritarian society.Indeed, and consistently among all three of our surveys over the past two years, more than 70 percent of Iranians also expressed support for providing full access to weapons inspectors and a guarantee that Iran will not develop or possess nuclear weapons, in return for outside aid and investment. And 77 percent of Iranians favored normal relations and trade with the United States, another result consistent with our previous findings.Iranians view their support for a more democratic system, with normal relations with the United States, as consonant with their support for Ahmadinejad. They do not want him to continue his hard-line policies. Rather, Iranians apparently see Ahmadinejad as their toughest negotiator, the person best positioned to bring home a favorable deal -- rather like a Persian Nixon going to China. CLIP

Iran protesters defy rally ban (JUNE 15, 2009 ) http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2009/06/2009615133031333905.html
Tens of thousands of Iranians have rallied in the country's capital in defiance of a government ban to protest against the re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president. In his first public appearance since the elections three days ago, Mir Hossein Mousavi, the defeated presidential candidate, told supporters at the Tehran rally on Monday that he would take part if new elections were called."The vote of the people is more important than Mousavi or any other person," he said. The demonstrators headed toward the capital's huge Freedom Square, in what was the largest display of opposition to the election results to date."Mousavi we support you! We will die but retrieve our votes!" shouted supporters, many wearing the trademark green colour of Mousavi's election campaign. Later reports said some shots had been fired at the rally. CLIP
True Story of the Bilderberg Group and What They May Be Planning Now
16 JUNE 2009
For over 14 years, Daniel Estulin has investigated and researched the Bilderberg Group's far-reaching influence on business and finance, global politics, war and peace, and control of the world's resources and its money. His book, "The True Story of the Bilderberg Group," was published in 2005 and is now updated in a new 2009 edition. He states that in 1954, "the most powerful men in the world met for the first time" in Oosterbeek, Netherlands, "debated the future of the world," and decided to meet annually in secret. They called themselves the Bilderberg Group with a membership representing a who's who of world power elites, mostly from America, Canada, and Western Europe.
With familiar names like David Rockefeller, Henry Kissinger, Bill Clinton, Gordon Brown, Angela Merkel, Alan Greenspan, Ben Bernanke, Larry Summers, Tim Geithner, Lloyd Blankfein, George Soros, Donald Rumsfeld, Rupert Murdoch, other heads of state, influential senators, congressmen and parliamentarians, Pentagon and NATO brass, members of European royalty, selected media figures, and invited others - some quietly by some accounts like Barack Obama and many of his top officials.
Always well represented are top figures from the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), IMF, World Bank, Trilateral Commission, EU, and powerful central bankers from the Federal Reserve, the ECB's Jean-Claude Trichet, and Bank of England's Mervyn King.
For over half a century, no agenda or discussion topics became public nor is any press coverage allowed. The few invited fourth estate attendees and their bosses are sworn to secrecy. Nonetheless, Estulin undertook "an investigative journey" that became his life's work. He states:
"Slowly, one by one, I have penetrated the layers of secrecy surrounding the Bilderberg Group, but I could not have done this withot help of 'conscientious objectors' from inside, as well as outside, the Group's membership." As a result, he keeps their names confidential.
Whatever its early mission, the Group is now "a shadow world government....threaten(ing) to take away our right to direct our own destinies (by creating) a disturbing reality" very much harming the public's welfare. In short, Bilderbergers want to supplant individual nation-state sovereignty with an all-powerful global government, corporate controlled, and check-mated by militarized enforcement.
"Imagine a private club where presidents, prime ministers, international bankers and generals rub shoulders, where gracious royal chaperones ensure everyone gets along, and where the people running the wars, markets, and Europe (and America) say what they never dare say in public."
Early in its history, Bilderbergers decided "to create an 'Aristocracy of purpose' between Europe and the United States (to reach consensus to rule the world on matters of) policy, economics, and (overall) strategy." NATO was essential for their plans - to ensure "perpetual war (and) nuclear blackmail" to be used as necessary. Then proceed to loot the planet, achieve fabulous wealth and power, and crush all challengers to keep it.
Along with military dominance, controlling the world's money is crucial for with it comes absolute control as the powerful 19th century Rothschild family understood. As the patriarch Amschel Rothschild once said: "Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes its laws."
Bilderbergers comprise the world's most exclusive club. No one buys their way in. Only the Group's Steering Committee decides whom to invite, and in all cases participants are adherents to One World Order governance run by top power elites.
According to Steering Committee rules:
"the invited guests must come alone; no wives, girlfriends, husbands or boyfriends. Personal assistants (meaning security, bodyguards, CIA or other secret service protectors) cannot attend the conference and must eat in a separate hall. (Also) The guests are explicitly forbidden from giving interviews to journalists" or divulge anything that goes on in meetings.
Host governments provide overall security to keep away outsiders. One-third of attendees are political figures. The others are from industry, finance, academia, labor and communications.
Meeting procedure is by Chatham House Rules letting attendees freely express their views in a relaxed atmosphere knowing nothing said will be quoted or revealed to the public. Meetings "are always frank, but do not always conclude with consensus."
Membership consists of annual attendees (around 80 of the world's most powerful) and others only invited occasionally because of their knowledge or involvement in relevant topics. Those most valued are asked back, and some first-timers are chosen for their possible later usefulness.
Arkansas governor Bill Clinton, for example, who attended in 1991. "There, David Rockefeller told (him) why the North American Free Trade Agreement....was a Bilderberg priority and that the group needed him to support it. The next year, Clinton was elected president," and on January 1, 1994 NAFTA took effect. Numerous other examples are similar, including who gets chosen for powerful government, military and other key positions.
The Group's grand design is for "a One World Government (World Company) with a single, global marketplace, policed by one world army, and financially regulated by one 'World (Central) Bank' using one global currency." Their "wish list" includes:
-- "one international identify (observing) one set of universal values;"
-- centralized control of world populations by "mind control;" in other words, controlling world public opinion;
-- a New World Order with no middle class, only "rulers and servants (serfs)," and, of course, no democracy;
-- "a zero-growth society" without prosperity or progress, only greater wealth and power for the rulers;
-- manufactured crises and perpetual wars;
-- absolute control of education to program the public mind and train those chosen for various roles;
-- "centralized control of all foreign and domestic policies;" one size fits all globally;
-- using the UN as a de facto world government imposing a UN tax on "world citizens;"
-- expanding NAFTA and WTO globally;
-- making NATO a world military;
-- imposing a universal legal system; and
-- a global "welfare state where obedient slaves will be rewarded and non-conformists targeted for extermination."
Secret Bilderberg Partners
In the US, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is dominant. One of its 1921 founders, Edward Mandell House, was Woodrow Wilson's chief advisor and rumored at the time to be the nation's real power from 1913 - 1921. On his watch, the Federal Reserve Act passed in December 1913 giving money creation power to bankers, and the 16th Amendment was ratified in February creating the federal income tax to provide a revenue stream to pay for government debt service.
From its beginnings, CFR was committed to "a one-world government based on a centralized global financing system...." Today, CFR has thousands of influential members (including important ones in the corporate media) but keeps a low public profile, especially regarding its real agenda.
Historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. called it a "front organization (for) the heart of the American Establishment." It meets privately and only publishes what it wishes the public to know. Its members are only Americans.
The Trilateral Commission (discussed below) is a similar group that "brings together global power brokers." Founded by David Rockefeller, he's also a leading Bilderberger and CFR Chairman Emeritus, organizations he continues to finance and support.
Their past and current members reflect their power:
-- nearly all presidential candidates of both parties;
-- leading senators and congressmen;
-- key members of the fourth estate and their bosses; and
-- top officials of the FBI, CIA, NSA, defense establishment, and other leading government agencies, including state, commerce, the judiciary and treasury.
For its part, "CFR has served as a virtual employment agency for the federal government under both Democrats and Republicans." Whoever occupies the White House, "CFR's power and agenda" have been unchanged since its 1921 founding.
It advocates a global superstate with America and other nations sacrificing their sovereignty to a central power. CFR founder Paul Warburg was a member of Roosevelt's "brain trust." In 1950, his son, James, told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee: "We shall have world government whether or not you like it - by conquest or consent."
Later at the 1992 Bilderberg Group meeting, Henry Kissinger said:
"Today, Americans would be outraged if UN troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow, they will be grateful. This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all people of the world will plead with world leaders to deliver them from this evil....individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by their world government."
CFR planned a New World Order before 1942, and the "UN began with a group of CFR members called the Informal Agenda Group." They drafted the original UN proposal, presented it to Franklin Roosevelt who announced it publicly the next day. At its 1945 founding, CFR members comprised over 40 of the US delegates.
According to Professor G. William Domhoff, author of Who Rules America, the CFR operates in "small groups of about twenty-five, who bring together leaders from the six conspirator categories (industrialists, financiers, ideologues, military, professional specialists - lawyers, medical doctors, etc. - and organized labor) for detailed discussions of specific topics in the area of foreign affairs." Domhoff added:
"The Council on Foreign Relations, while not financed by government, works so closely with it that it is difficult to distinguish Council action stimulated by government from autonomous actions. (Its) most important sources of income are leading corporations and major foundations." The Rockefeller, Carnegie, and Ford Foundations to name three, and they're directed by key corporate officials.
Dominant Media Partners
Former CBS News president Richard Salant (1961 - 64 and 1966 - 79) explained the major media's role: "Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have."
CBS and other media giants control everything we see, hear and read - through television, radio, newspapers, magazines, books, films, and large portions of the Internet. Their top officials and some journalists attend Bilderberg meetings - on condition they report nothing.
The Rockefeller family wields enormous power, even though its reigning patriarch, David, will be 94 on June 12 and surely near the end of his dominance. However, for years "the Rockefellers (led by David) gained great influence over the media. (With it) the family gained sway over public opinion. With the pulse of public opinion, they gained deep influence in politics. And with this politics of subtle corruption, they are taking control of the nation" and now aim for total world domination.
The Bilderberger-Rockefeller scheme is to make their views "so appealing (by camouflaging them) that they become public policy (and can) pressure world leaders into submitting to the 'needs of the Masters of the Universe.' " The "free world press" is their instrument to disseminate "agreed-upon propaganda."
CFR Cabinet Control
"The National Security Act of 1947 established the office of Secretary of Defense." Since then, 14 DOD secretaries have been CFR members.
Since 1940, every Secretary of State, except James Byrnes, has been a CFR member and/or Trilateral Commission (TC) one.
For the past 80 years, "Virtually every key US National Security and Foreign Policy Advisor has been a CFR member.
Nearly all top generals and admirals have been CFR members.
Many presidential candidates were/are CFR members, including Herbert Hoover, Adlai Stevenson, Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter (also a charter TC member), George HW Bush, Bill Clinton, John Kerry, and John McCain.
Numerous CIA directors were/are CFR members, including Richard Helmes, James Schlesinger, William Casey, William Webster, Robert Gates, James Woolsey, John Deutsch, George Tenet, Porter Goss, Michael Hayden, and Leon Panetta.
Many Treasury Secretaries were/are CFR members, including Douglas Dillon, George Schultz, William Simon, James Baker, Nicholas Brady, Lloyd Bentsen, Robert Rubin, Henry Paulson, and Tim Geithner.
When presidents nominate Supreme Court candidates, the CFR's "Special Group, Secret Team" or advisors vet them for acceptability. Presidents, in fact, are told who to appoint, including designees to the High Court and most lower ones.
Programming the Public Mind
According to sociologist Hadley Cantril in his 1967 book, The Human Dimension - Experiences in Policy Research:
Government "Psycho-political operations are propaganda campaigns designed to create perpetual tension and to manipulate different groups of people to accept the particular climate of opinion the CFR seeks to achieve in the world."
Canadian writer Ken Adachi (1929 - 1989) added:
"What most Americans believe to be 'Public Opinion' is in reality carefully crafted and scripted propaganda designed to elicit a desired behavioral response from the public."
And noted Australian academic and activist Alex Carey (1922 - 1988) explained the three most important 20th century developments - "The growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy."
Web of Control
Numerous think tanks, foundations, the major media, and other key organizations are staffed with CFR members. Most of its life-members also belong to the TC and Bilderberg Group, operate secretly, and wield enormous power over US and world affairs.
The Rockefeller-Founded Trilateral Commission (TC)
On page 405 of his Memoirs, David Rockfeller wrote:
"Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it."
In alliance with Bilderbergers, the TC also "plays a vital role in the New World Order's scheme to use wealth, concentrated in the hands of the few, to exert world control." TC members share common views and all relate to total unchallengeable global dominance.
Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Washington, its powerful US, EU and East Asian members seek its operative founding goal - a "New International Economic Order," now simply a "New World Order" run by global elites from these three parts of the world with lesser members admitted from other countries.
According to TC's web site, "each regional group has a chairman and deputy chairman, who all together constitute the leadership of the Committee. The Executive Committee draws together a further 36 individuals from the wider membership," proportionately representing the US, EU, and East Asia in its early years, now enlarged to be broadly global.
Committee members meet several times annually to discuss and coordinate their work. The Executive Committee chooses members, and at any time around 350 belong for a three-year renewable period. Everyone is a consummate insider with expertise in business, finance, politics, the military, or the media, including past presidents, secretaries of state, international bankers, think tank and foundation executives, university presidents and selected academics, and former senators and congressmen, among others.
Although its annual reports are available for purchase, its inner workings, current goals, and operations are secret - with good reason. Its objectives harm the public so mustn't be revealed. Trilaterals over Washington author Antony Sutton wrote:
"this group of private citizens is precisely organized in a manner that ensures its collective views have significant impact on public policy."
In her book, Trilateralism: The Trilateral Commission and Elite Planning for World Management, Holly Sklar wrote:
Powerful figures in America, Europe, and East Asia let "the rich....safeguard the interests of Western capitalism in an explosive world - probably by discouraging protectionism, nationalism, or any response that would pit the elites of one against the elites of another," in their common quest for global dominance.
Trilateralist Zbigniew Brzezinski (TC's co-founder) wrote in his Between Two Ages - America's Role in the Technotronic Era:
"people, governments and economies of all nations must serve the needs of multinational banks and corporations. (The Constitution is) inadequate....the old framework of international politics, with their sphere of influence....the fiction of sovereignty....is clearly no longer compatible with reality...."
TC today is now global with members from countries as diverse as Argentina, Ukraine, Israel, Jordan, Brazil, Turkey, China and Russia. In his Trilaterals Over America, Antony Sutton believes that TC's aim is to collaborate with Bilderbergers and CFR in "establishing public policy objectives to be implemented by governments worldwide." He added that "Trilateralists have rejected the US Constitution and the democratic political process." In fact, TC was established to counter a "crisis in democracy" - too much of it that had to be contained.
An official TC report was fearful about "the increased popular participation in and control over established social, political, and economic institutions and especially a reaction against the concentration of power of Congress and of state and local government."
To address this, media control was essential to exert "restraint on what newspapers may publish (and TV and radio broadcast)." Then according to Richard Gardner in the July 1974 issue of Foreign Affairs (a CFR publication):
CFR's leadership must make "an end run around national sovereignty, eroding it piece by piece," until the very notion disappears from public discourse.
Bilderberg/CFR/Trilateralist success depends on finding "a way to get us to surrender our liberties in the name of some common threat or crisis. The foundations, educational institutions, and research think tanks supported by (these organizations) oblige by financing so-called 'studies' which are then used to justify their every excess. The excuses vary, but the target is always individual liberty. Our liberty" and much more.
Bilderbergers, Trilateralists and CFR members want "an all-encompassing monopoly" - over government, money, industry, and property that's "self-perpetuating and eternal." In Confessions of a Monopolist (1906), Frederick C. Howe explained its workings in practice:
"The rules of big business: Get a monopoly; let Society work for you. So long as we see all international revolutionaries and all international capitalists as implacable enemies of one another, then we miss a crucial point....a partnership between international monopoly capitalism and international revolutionary socialism is for their mutual benefit."
In the Rockefeller File, Gary Allen wrote:
"By the late nineteenth century, the inner sanctums of Wall Street understood that the most efficient way to gain a monopoly was to say it was for the 'public good' and 'public interest.' "
David Rockefeller learned the same thing from his father, John D., Jr. who learned it from his father, John D. Sr. They hated competition and relentlessly strove to eliminate it - for David on a global scale through a New World Order.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Trilateralists and CFR members collaborated on the latter's "1980 Project," the largest ever CFR initiative to steer world events "toward a particular desirable future outcome (involving) the utter disintegration of the economy." Why so is the question?
Because by the 1950s and 1960s, worldwide industrial growth meant more competition. It was also a model to be followed, and "had to be strangled in the cradle" or at least greatly contained. In America as well beginning in the 1980s. The result has been a transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich, shrinkage of the middle class, and plan for its eventual demise.
The North American Union (NAU)
The idea emerged during the Reagan administration in the early 1980s. David Rockefeller, George Schultz and Paul Volker told the president that Canada and America could be politically and economically merged over the next 15 years except for one problem - French-speaking Quebec. Their solution - elect a Bilderberg-friendly prime minister, separate Quebec from the other provinces, then make Canada America's 51st state. It almost worked, but not quite when a 1995 secession referendum was defeated - 50.56% to 49.44%, but not the idea of merger.
At a March 23, 2005 Waco, Texas meeting, attended by George Bush, Mexico's Vincente Fox, and Canada's Paul Martin, the Security and and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) was launched, also known as the North American Union (NAU). It was a secretive Independent Task Force of North America agreement - a group organized by the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (CCCE), the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations, and CFR with the following aims:
-- circumventing the legislatures of three countries and their constitutions;
-- suppressing public knowledge or consideration; and
-- proposing greater US, Canadian and Mexican economic, political, social, and security integration with secretive working groups formed to devise non-debatable, not voted on agreements to be binding and unchangeable.
In short - a corporate coup d'etat against the sovereignty of three nations enforced by hard line militarization to suppress opposition.
If enacted, it will create a borderless North America, corporate controlled, without barriers to trade or capital flows for business giants, mainly US ones and much more - America's access to vital resources, especially oil and Canada's fresh water.
Secretly, over 300 SPP initiatives were crafted to harmonize the continent's policies on energy, food, drugs, security, immigration, manufacturing, the environment, and public health along with militarizing three nations for enforcement.
SPP represents another step toward the Bilderberg/Trilateralist/CFR goal for World Government, taking it one step at a time. A "United Europe" was another, the result of various treaties and economic agreements:
-- the December 1951 six-nation European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC);
-- the March 1957 six-nation Treaty of Rome establishing the European Economic Community (EEC);
also the European Atomic Energy Commission (EAEC) by a second Treaty of Rome;
-- the October 1957 European Court of Justice to settle regional trade disputes;
-- the May 1960 seven-nation European Free Trade Association (EFTA);
-- the July 1967 European Economic Community (EEC) merging the ECSC, EAEC and EEC together in one organization;
-- the 1968 European Customs Union to abolish duties and establish uniform imports taxing among EEC nations;
-- the 1978 European Currency Unit (ECU);
-- the February 1986 Single European Act revision of the 1957 Treaty of Rome; it established the objective of forming a Common Market by December 31, 1992;
-- the February 1992 Maastricht Treaty creating the EU on November 1, 1993; and
-- the name euro was adopted in December 1995; it was introduced in January 1999 replacing the European Currency Unit (ECU); euros began circulating on January 2002; they're now the official currency of 16 of the 27 EU states.
Over half a century, the above steps cost EU members their sovereignty "as some 70 to 80 per cent of the laws passed in Europe involve just rubber stamping of regulations already written by nameless bureaucrats in 'working groups' in Brussels or Luxembourg."
The EU and NAU share common features:
-- advocacy from a influential spokesperson;
-- an economic and later political union;
-- hard line security, and for Europe, ending wars on the continent between EU member states;
-- establishment of a collective consciousness in place of nationalism;
-- the blurring of borders and creation of a "supra-government," a superstate;
-- secretive arrangements to mask real objectives; and
-- the creation of a common currency and eventual global one.
Steps Toward a North American Union
-- the October 4, 1988 Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the US and Canada, finalized the previous year;
-- at the 1991 Bilderberg meeting, David Rockefeller got governor Bill Clinton's support for NAFTA if he became president;
-- on January 1, 1994, with no debate under "fast-track" rules, Congress approved WTO legislation;
-- in December 1994 at the first Summit of the Americas, 34 Hemispheric leaders committed their nations to a Free Trade of the Americas agreement (FTAA) by 2005 - so far unachieved;
-- on July 4, 2000, Mexican president Vincente Fox called for a North American common market in 20 years;
-- on February 2001, the White House published a joint statement from George Bush and Vincente Fox called the "Guanajuato Proposal;" it was for a US-Canada-Mexico prosperity partnership (aka North American Union);
-- in September 2001, Bush and Fox agreed to a "Partnership for Prosperity Initiative;"
-- the September 11, 2001 attack gave cover to including "security" as part of a future partnership;
-- on October 7, 2001, a CFA meeting highlighted "The Future of North American Integration in the Wake of Terrorist Attacks; for the first time, "security" became part of a future "partnership for prosperity;" also, Canada was to be included in a "North American" agreement;
-- in 2002, the North American Forum on Integration (NAFI) was established in Montreal "to address the issues raised by North American integration as well as identify new ideas and strategies to reinforce the North American region;"
-- in January 2003, the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (CCCE - composed of 150 top CEOs) launched the "North American Security and Prosperity Initiative" calling for continental integration;
-- in April 2004, Canadian prime minister Paul Martin announced the nation's first ever national security policy called Securing an Open Society;
-- on October 15, 2004, CFR established an Independent Task Force on the Future of North America - for a future continental union;
-- in March 2005, a CFR report titled Creating a North American Community called for continental integration by 2010 "to enhance, prosperity, and opportunity for all North Americans;" and
-- on March 23, 2005 in Waco, Texas, America, Canada and Mexico leaders launched the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) - aka North American Union (NAU).
Secretive negotiations continue. Legislative debate is excluded, and public inclusion and debate are off the table. In May 2005, the CFR Independent Task Force on the Future of North America published a follow-up report titled Building a North American Community - proposing a borderless three-nation union by 2010.
In June and July 2005, the Dominican Republic - Central America Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA) passed the Senate and House establishing corporate-approved trade rules to further impoverish the region and move a step closer to continental integration.
In March 2006, the North American Competitiveness Council (NACC) was created at the second SPP summit in Cancun, Mexico. Composed of 30 top North American CEOs, it serves as an official trilateral SPP working group.
Secret business and government meetings continue so there's no way to confirm SPP's current status or if Barack Obama is seamlessly continuing George Bush's agenda. In an earlier article, this writer said:
SPP efforts paused during the Bush to Obama transition, but "deep integration" plans remain. Canada's Fraser Institute proposed renaming the initiative the North American Standards and Regulatory Area (NASRA) to disguise its real purpose. It said the "SPP brand" is tarnished so re-branding is essential - to fool the public until it's too late to matter.
Bilderbergers, Trilaterists, and CFR leaders back it as another step toward global integration and won't "stop until the entire world is unified under the auspices and the political umbrella of a One World Company, a nightmarish borderless world run by the world's most powerful clique" - comprised of key elitist members of these dominant organizations.
In April 2007, the Transatlantic Economic Council was established between America and the EU to:
-- create an "official international governmental body - by executive fiat;
-- harmonize economic and regulatory objectives;
-- move toward a Transatlantic Common Market; and
-- a step closer to One World Government run by the world's most powerful corporate interests.
Insights into the 2009 Bilderberg Group Meeting
From May 14 - 17, Bilderbergers held their annual meeting in Vouliagmeni, Greece, and according to Daniel Estulin have dire plans for global economies.
According to his pre-meeting sources, they're divided on two alternatives:
"Either a prolonged, agonizing depression that dooms the world to decades of stagnation, decline and poverty (or) an intense but shorter depression that paves the way for a new sustainable world order, with less sovereignty but more efficiency."
Other agenda items included:
-- "the future of the US dollar and US economy;"
-- continued deception about green shoots signaling an end to recession and improving economy later in the year;
-- suppressing the fact that bank stress tests were a sham and were designed for deception, not an accurate assessment of major banks' health;
-- projecting headlined US unemployment to hit 14% by year end - way above current forecasts and meaning the true number will be double, at minimum, with all uncounted categories included; and
-- a final push to get the Lisbon Treaty passed for pan-European (EU) adoption of neoliberal rules, including greater privatizations, fewer worker rights and social benefits, open border trade favoring developed over emerging states, and greater militarization to suppress civil liberties and human rights.
After the meeting, Estulin got a 73-page report on what was discussed. He noted that "One of Bilderberg's primary concerns....is the danger that their zeal to reshape the world by engineering chaos (toward) their long term agenda could cause the situation to spiral out of control and eventually lead to a scenario where Bilderberg and the global elite in general are overwhelmed by events and end up losing their control over the planet."
Estulin also noted some considerable disagreement between "hardliners" wanting a "dramatic decline and a severe, short-term depression (versus others) who think that things have gone too far" so that "the fallout from the global economic cataclysm" can't be known, may be greater than anticipated, and may harm Bilderberger interests. Also, "some European bankers (expressed great alarm over their own fate and called the current) high wire act 'unsustainable.' "
There was a combination of agreement and fear that the situation remains dire and the worst of the crisis lies ahead, mainly because of America's extreme debt level that must be resolved to produce a healthy, sustainable recovery.
Topics also included:
-- establishing a Global Treasury Department and Global Central Bank, possibly partnered with or as part of the IMF;
-- a global currency;
-- destruction of the dollar through what longtime market analyst Bob Chapman calls "a stealth default on (US) debt by continuing to issue massive amounts of money and credit and in the process devaluing the dollar," a process he calls "fraud;"
-- a global legal system;
-- exploiting the Swine Flu scare to create a WHO global department of health; and
-- the overall goal of a global government and the end of national sovereignty.
In the past, Estulin's sources proved accurate. Earlier, he predicted the housing crash and 2007 - 2008 financial market decline, preceded by the kind of financial crisis triggered by the Lehman Brothers collapse. Watch for further updates from him as new information leaks out on what the world's power elites have planned going forward.
Explosive New Book Exposes Global Conspiracy -- Bangkok, Thailand - Jan. 26, 2009 http://www.prlog.org/10172283-explosive-new-book-exposes-global-conspiracy.html
Chulalongkorn University teacher/American Author Eric Dubay has researched, compiled, and written the most precise and concise guide ever published exposing the global New World Order conspiracy.His book, "The Atlantean Conspiracy" shows how the United Nations, World Bank and IMF, top politicians, bankers, media moguls, CEOs and world royalty, are acting in concert through secretive meetings/organizations like the Bilderberg Group, Trilateral Commission and Council on Foreign Relations to reign in what they openly refer to as a "New World Order" - One World Government under the United Nations, one world bank and world currency, world court, and world military. "The drive of the Rockefellers and their allies is to create a one-world government combining supercapitalism and Communism under the same tent, all under their control... Do I mean conspiracy? Yes I do. I am convinced there is such a plot, international in scope, generations old in planning, and incredibly evil in intent." Congressman Larry P. McDonald, 1976" George Bush has been surrounding himself with people who believe in one-world government. They believe that the Soviet system and the American system are converging. The vehicle to bring this about is the United Nations, the majority of whose 166 member states are socialist, atheist, and anti-American." - U.S. Ambassador David Funderburk, 1991"Some even believe we (the Rockefeller family) are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure---one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it." David Rockefeller in his Memoirs, 2002 This "New World Order" has been spoken of by Henry Kissenger, George Bush, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Nicolas Sarkozy, Barack Obama and countless others who are actively using their positions of power and influence towards the global centralization of world government, banking, media, and military. Eric Dubay's "The Atlantean Conspiracy" 318-page book outlines the history and major players involved with sourced documentation and quotes from the conspirators themselves. There is a new search engine in town, a computational knowledge engine, as its creators call it. Wolfram|Alpha has really changed the concept as we know it. Combining the power of the web, many specialized databases, and a computation engine, it's been 20 years in the making and is finally ready for the masses. I'm calling it the world's largest real-time encyclopedia.
Think about this... would you rather get answers based on facts, or on how clever a certain website has been for search engine optimization? Stephen Wolfram, creator of Wolfram|Alpha, and a select team of experts have managed to capture over 10 trillion of pieces of data, 50,000 types of algorithms and models, and over 1000 domains to come up with a system capable of answering questions, instead of just finding web pages that match a given keyword.
So what exactly can this new search tool do? In a nutshell, it will answer a question or perform a calculation based on facts. Subjects such as food and nutrition, life sciences, chemistry, organizations, engineering, and money and finance are all included in the data base.
For example, I entered "Thailand" and got everything I ever wanted to know about it and more, including map location, topographical data, demographics, cultural properties and largest cities. I also got links to more data. By comparison, Google's top results are mostly about tourism and travel. Enter a specific date and it will tell you how long ago it was, notable events, what famous people were born on it and even what phase the moon is in. I tested it for Groundhog's Day (February 2) and found that it was also Change Your Windshield Wiper Day. I'm surprised Hallmark hasn't jumped all over that one yet...
Next, I entered the word "pink." The color came up, along with a swatch and what colors it is made from. Click on "person" and you get the singer Alecia Beth Moore, aka Pink. I also found it is the name of a publishing company. I then gave it a real challenge with the word "Spam." Wolfram|Alpha assumes it is a food and proceeded to give me calorie count and other nutritional facts. Thank goodness it didn't give me the exact ingredients. There was also an option to use it as a word and I received the information, "a canned meat made largely from pork." Interestingly, it didn't suggest the alternative cyberslang definition referring to unsolicited commercial email, unless I entered the word "spam" in lowercase.
What Wolfram|Alpha Isn't So Good For
Remember that this is a tool that eats facts and spits out information. So Wolfram|Alpha is a bit like a nerd at a cocktail party. He can tell you that it would take 4.39 light years to reach Alpha Centauri (some 25.81 trillion miles away) if you were in a ship travelling at the speed of light. But his scientific calculator won't help him figure out what songs are on the Billboard Top 40.
Ask about math, science and other specific things that can be calculated from known facts, and you'll get very interesting results. Here are a few examples:
Enter a formula like "x^2 sin(x)" (image not displayed)
How old is Steve Jobs?
54 years, 3 months and 22 days
Current time in London... (image not displayed)
Weather in Boston June 15 1999... (image not displayed)
But enter something obscure and it will tell you it doesn't know what to do with your input. It won't find a song that you want by using part of the lyrics, or tell you who sang "Blinded By The Light." It knows that "Kenny Rankin" is a person's name, but not that he was a popular musician who died recently.
When the team first began the project, they based it on reference books and libraries. However, they plan on expanding their scientific, technical and other quantitative information. Visit the Wolfram|Alpha forum to find out what they are up to, make suggestions and participate. If you are an expert on any subject, you might find yourself as part of the team.
The goal is to make this knowledge complete, so that "it is possible to compute whatever can be computed about anything." That's a ton of stuff and so ambitious that it will take decades to come to accomplish. Wolfram says he hasn't decided how he will make money from the Wolfram|Alpha project. But I can easily see Google, Yahoo or Microsoft buying it and making it a valuable addition to their search results. But for now, enjoy the service as it evolves and get involved if you can make it better.
